My
  name
  is
  Allie
  O’Donnell
  and
  I
  have
  been
  the
  SBDM
  parent
  representative
  since

January
  2014.
  I
  have
  two
  children
  at
  Cassidy.
  My
  daughter
  Caroline
  is
  in
  3rd
  grade
  in

Ms.
  Vass’
  class
  and
  my
  son
  Garrett
  is
  in
  Kindergarten
  with
  Mrs.
  Bradley.
  We
  have

moved
  around
  over
  the
  last
  6
  years,
  but,
  are
  in
  Lexington
  to
  stay.
  We
  lived
  in

Minnesota
  for
  5
  years
  and
  Toronto
  for
  a
  year
  before
  we
  moved
  to
  Lexington
  in
  July

2012.
  With
  all
  of
  our
  moves,
  I
  have
  learned
  that
  the
  best
  way
  to
  get
  involved
  and

meet
  people
  in
  the
  school
  is
  to
  join
  the
  PTA.

Prior
  to
  having
  kids,
  I
  was
  a
  speech-‐language
  pathologist
  and
  I
  am
  now
  a
  stay-‐at-‐
home
  mom.

  I
  have
  a
  BS
  and
  a
  MA
  in
  Speech-‐Language
  Pathology
  from
  Ball
  State

University.
  I
  worked
  in
  the
  school
  system
  in
  Indianapolis
  with
  preschool-‐5th
  grade

students.
  When
  I
  worked
  full
  time,
  I
  collaborated
  with
  classroom
  teachers,
  special

education
  teachers,
  reading
  specialists,
  the
  principal,
  and
  assistant
  principal
  to
  help

make
  the
  best
  decisions
  for
  the
  students
  and
  their
  education.

When
  we
  lived
  in
  Minnesota,
  I
  was
  very
  active
  in
  their
  Early
  Childhood
  Family

Education
  (ECFE)
  classes,
  a
  program
  through
  the
  public
  schools
  that
  worked
  with

parents
  and
  children
  birth
  to
  five
  years
  old.
  The
  main
  focus
  of
  this
  class
  was
  to
  show

parents
  that
  getting
  involved
  from
  the
  very
  beginning
  helps
  your
  child
  succeed
  in

school.

  In
  March,
  I
  started
  a
  4
  week
  pilot
  program
  at
  Good
  Shepherd
  Church
  similar

to
  the
  MN
  program.

I
  have
  been
  active
  in
  the
  Cassidy
  PTA
  since
  the
  beginning
  of
  the
  school
  year.

  I
  have

helped
  with
  the
  Box
  Tops
  for
  Education
  committee
  and
  most
  recently,
  the
  Special

Needs
  Awareness
  Week
  committee.

I
  would
  like
  to
  continue
  to
  be
  on
  the
  SDBM
  committee
  so
  I
  can
  have
  a
  voice
  for
  the

parents
  and
  help
  make
  decisions
  that
  affect
  our
  school
  and
  students.

Thank
  you
  for
  considering
  me!
