Renee – One thingI decidedwhenIcame toLenovowasthat I wouldgetmy presence outthere froma supplychain
standpoint.Ihave a lotof experience andIwantedtostart marketingmyself.If I’mnotmemberswithyou – I have
about5,000 connections –connect withme.Ihave beenputtingoutarticlesandthingsthat come to my mindand
referencingthe supplychain.Ihave a meetingtodaytosee how effective I’mbeingindoingthat.Lenovodoesn’thavea
lotof moneysothisis a wayfor us to getthe Lenovobrand outthere froma supplychainstandpoint.Ithinkit’sworking
well.Readsome of the posts/commentsI’ve made.Anytime Isee agoodarticle that’sworthreadingI putit out there.
It’sworkedforme. Lenovofeelsthattheyare gettinga benefitfromitandgettingourname out there.
Amy – I’minspiredbythat.
Karoline –I justsentyou an invite toconnect.
We have programsthat our salesteamdoes. Yes,we helpthemgothroughhow to presenttohave a higherprofile
withinLinkedIn.Whatisthe bestinformationforthemtoputup about themselvespersonallyandaboutthe company?
We postthingsthat are worthwhile. We give thempostingstheycanrefertobutalso thingsthatwill stage themas
thoughtleaders.It’ssuccessfulif theykeepupwithit.Ihave restrictionsthatIcannot post.
Amy – We’re gettingsome goodtraction. We’re puttingmore focusonthe SCLA social mediapresence. Be aware of it,
share, comment, like, post, etc. The committeedidgreat!99% of the attendeesthoughtthe sessionexceeded
expectations. The 1%were disappointed thattheydidnothave theirPIinfrontof them. That’snot somethingthatwas
withinourcontrol so I feel greataboutthat. You workedsohard and hitit outof the ballparkagain. Thankyou.
Karoline –Thank youso much foryour efforts.
Amy – People reallyenjoyedthe sharing. Richardandhisteamofferedupanotherassessmenttool. Idon’tknowthatit’s
the right fitfornextyear. It’sdefinitelysomethingourcommittee coulddointhe future. Ihave nottakenit myself yet.
Jess– I haven’theardof it but I’dbe interestedindoingit.
Amy – Are there othersuggestionsforexternal speakers? The challengewithsome of these isthattheyare inthe price
range of $25,000-30,000 whichisbeyondourbudgetdespite the supplemental fund. Anythoughtsonthemes?Michael
Jacobsis chairingthe educationcommitteefor2019. I’ve includedsome of hisideasonthe agenda. We have not
decidedona theme yetfor2019. The educationcommittee willbe meetinginOctobertoworkon this. Are these topics
on as far as supersessions?
Karoline –Theyare goodfrom a highlevel. One thingthat’smissingisthe marketingof supplychain. We don’talwaysdo
a verygood jobwithinourorg highlightingthe value thatsupplychainadds. We’re goodtechnicallybutnotalways
storytellers. We needtobe able totell a compellingstorythathighlightsthe value of delivery.Istruggle withtellingmy
storyand marketingmyself.
2. Jess– I don’thave successstories, butthat’ssomethingIneedtoworkon withinmyorg andmany othersdo as well.
MB – How doesthe supply chainfromendto endsupporteach of our businesses? How dowe make sure we’re upfront
inthe planningprocess?Howdowe geta seat at the table?
Amy – We’ve done storytellingwithOlivia.Ihave Tara’s bookand I reallyenjoyit. Oftenwomenfeel that we are not
enough. We are constantlylookingforthingsoutside of ourselvestovalidate. That’snotaqualitypeople lookforin
future leaders. That’sbeenastumblingblockforfemale leaders –tellingyourstory,knowingyourworthand
communicatinginaneffectiveway.WhenIreadthe book that’swhatI took away. Tell yourstory.You are enough.Go
out andget the jobdone.
Roseann – Womendon’texhibitthe same level of confidence asmen. We lookto getthe credentialsbeforewe ask for
whatwe want.
Amy – It doesn’thave tobe Tara. There are othersto speakto it.I don’twantto do too much of what we didwithOlivia.
Karoline –Personal storytellingisadifferentside.Thisismore highlightingthe strengthsandaccomplishmentsof
yourself andyourteam.Thisisabout marketing. Withinanorghow do you expressthe value deliveryand
accomplishmentslessaboutthe personal side?
Roseann– I like thatyouuse the termmarketing. Itcan be both professional andpersonal –traditional anddigital. How
have we done itin the past versushoware we doingit today? MarketingwithConfidence–somethinglikethat.
Amy – It’sa leadership skill.Generallyspeaking, womenare more humble andnotascomfortable touting
accomplishments. Womendon’twanttobrag andbe seenina negative light. It’safine lineandyouhave to findthe
balance betweenthe two. I’ll followupwithTaraand give a reportout. Nextup isthe program surveywhichhasonly
beensenttothe executive committeesofar. For those whohave notseenitwe will senditouttoyou afterthiscall.
We’re usingthe feedbacktohelpshape the programfor2019. What are yourbiggestsuccessesthatyouwouldlike to
share?Start singingyourownpraises.Putitout there.There ishumilitythatappliestosupplychain.Itbecomesthe
unsunghero. It’saboutexecutionandgettingthe jobdone. There’salwaysroomtogrow butyou can still be bestin
class. We can lookspecificallyatthe successesof the womenonthe committee.
Regan– I love thisline of discussion, specificallyonthe femaleside. I’vebeeninthisindustryfor25 yearsmostly
surroundedbymen. Theygetpromotionsbecause theyare more vocal aboutwhatthey’ve done.Ishouldn’thave totell
everyone howgoodIam. I wantit to be seenandrecognized. We getnew people inhere all the time.We are bestin
classbut we are alwaystryingtomake thingsbetter. It’satimelytopicandone that a lotof people willbe interestedin.
Amy – I thinkwe’ve gotawinner.
MB – Anothertopic– hownimble are oursupplychains? How do we thinkaboutour abilitiestoadjusttoeconomic
trendsand changes – i.e.Chinatariffs?Isthere atheme onreassessingand/orrepositioningoursupplychainto
respond?
Amy – I like the nimble supplychain.
Karoline –It’s a verytimelytopic.
MB – It’s nota directcorrelationtothe tariffs. Companiesshouldalwayshave some degreeof closedloopassessing. We
are fumblingtoputitin place as part of our strategicworkefforts. Othersmayhave solvedit. Itmaynot be worthy.
Amy – I see itinthe overall program. Doesthe nimble supplychainbecome more importantthanrobotics,AI,WMS
supersession?
3. MB – Is the highestlevel creatinganimble, elasticsupplychainandare theysupportedbythose pillars.
Amy – That’san importantpiece andI’dlike toshare it withthe educationcommittee onthe call latertoday. We’re off
to a great start. Let’sschedule ournext calls.Letusknow of any additional speakers, sessions, topicstoconsider.
