Script; Reasons for Editing Digital Audio
Music play in the beginning
“Hello, this is Nikkilee Sa-Ardsri and I’m here to talk about reasons for editing
digital audio.”
“Reasons for editing digitalaudio is to eliminate background/ambient sound,
which includes the removal of the material that is not important or not as good
quality. For examples; stutter, silence, clearing your throat, humming, cues and
many more.”
“Another reason is that it can help by trimming the important bits that you will
need when using editing audio; you can put together an audio timeline in the
correct order. The other reason for using editing is that you can make your audio
realistic and better.”
“This editing can help fitting the audio to an agreed running time.”
“You can put in sound effects in radio, films and television shows.”
“For further information – you can change the meaning of the audio by editing.
For examples; taking out a word ‘not’ in the sentence.”
Examples;
• I am sorry
• I am Not sorry
• I like your company
• I Don’t like your company
• This cake is delicious
• This cake is Not delicious.
Digital Audio Editing Across Media Sectors and products
“For the Digital Audio Editing across Media Sectors and products, the adobe
audition allows you to change the level in your tracks just in case you want it to
be loud or quiet and colour coded.”
“The adobe has many different kinds of layers and depending how many you
want – you can use multiple tracks in the editing on the Adobe Audition.”
“The whole point of this audio editing, you are not allowed to leave any gaps
otherwise it could ruin your whole work and some of you wouldn't want that."
“Once you have recorded whatever you wish you to record – make sure that it is
slick with no disturbing noises and you could do that by trimming part of the
audio that you don’t need and that will include;
• Sound/background noises
• Voices such as coughing, mumbling, clearing your throat at the beginning
or end.
By using the Adobe 'Pro Tools' section."
"When editing in the Adobe Audition, its allows you to see the wave
forms visible on the screen. This editing will create a joined up
flowing experience as well."
Digital Audio Editing Techniques and Software
"When recording and accessing on to the computer and on to the
adobe audition to make it look better, here are some of the editing
techniques that can be used for it...
• cutting, joining and fading (in and out)
• Topping and tailing (removes the material from the beginning
and end)
• Getting rid of breathing sounds, clicks, pauses, giving off a
specific mood (edit in the way you've seen) and certain areas in
the timeline where there isn't any sound."
"As some of you see in movies and television shows, there are sound
for examples; sound effects, music in the background and voices
dialogue. But there is a special name for it, 'the diegetic sound'
means that the sounds can be heard such as clicking, footsteps, wind
and people talking to one and another. But as for the 'non diegetic
sound' it is only for the sound that cannot be heard during the
films/television shows."
"In many behind the scenes of different movies/films the people
such as staff, producers, directors who help to create, normally use a
clapperboard to let the actors know when to sink in the sound when
they're performing."
"It is also very clever when some of the films use an orchestra to play
the music."
"ADR - stands for: automated dialogue replacement. It means re-
recording the actor's voice after they've finished filming and uses it
to improve the audio quality or changes in the dialogue. It is known
as 'looping or 'looping session' and 'dubbing over'."
"However, to extend the information about dubbing - in some of the
music videos you have listen to or watch such as 'Green Day' the
singer or a band uses lip sync so that they can cut to the beat."
Recommendations for the audiobook
“For the recommendations audiobook it is great when using the
Adobe Audition, the reason that is because it can help you to make
your creative work even better by trimming any unwanted materials
that you don’t need and not as important such as disturbing noises
like clicking, clearing your throat, coughing and etc. You can fade any
track from your work in the beginning part section and end. The
other thing that it is great when using this Adobe Software it is that
you can change the level of your tracks to make it low to high or loud
to quiet and even colour coded your multiples tracks (if you want
to).
You can make one of your track layers short or long, but however the
point of this that you are not allow to do is to leave a gap otherwise
your whole entire work could be ruin and done. When inserting your
recording of your voice dialogue, sound effects like tweeting of a
bird, footstep, wind blowing and such you can see a visible form of
waves which immediately appears on your computer screen.
To record any sound effects that you want you can record either in
the indoor or outdoor but for me I would prefer the outdoor instead.
The reason that is because there are many objects you could find
around you and use to help to create sound effects for examples;
snapping on the twig/sticks, rustling of the leaves and biting on the
apples to make a crunching sound. The main key part of this that
when you recording you’d need to point your microphone towards
you if you want to record yourself or the objects that you want to
record it otherwise if you don’t it would turn into a disaster and
quiet and that tip will help you to make the quality of your recording
better.
And the last thing you need to do is to remember to check through a
couple of times to make sure if what you have done is alright and
saving your work when you go along.”
