Scotland has approximately 790 islands, with people living on 130 of them. It has many historic castles, some now in ruins, and varied geography from its highest mountain Ben Nevis at 1,343 meters to its shortest river the 500 meter long River Morar. While Glasgow is largest city, Edinburgh is the capital and was the first city worldwide to have a fire brigade. Scotland also has large lochs and the legend of the Loch Ness monster.
