Scotland is a mountainous country in the north of Great Britain, divided into the Highlands and Lowlands. It has a long history and culture, including bagpipe music, haggis food, kilts as the national dress, tartan patterns associated with clans, and Highland Games sporting competitions. 5. FOOD: HAGGIS Scottish typical food. It is made of the heart and other organs of a sheep, cut up and boiled inside a skin made from the sheep’s stomach.

6. COSTUME: THE KILT The national dress of Scotland. It is a skirt usually of a tartan pattern . Men wear it. It was first used more than 700 years ago.

7. THE CLAN AND THE TARTAN A clan is a group of families usually with the same family name: McDonald, Mackenzie, etc. Mac or Mc means “the son of”. Every clan has got its own tartan, a special pattern for their kilts.
