This document describes an experiment that tested how the temperature of water affects the dissolving time of coffee powder. The experiment had two setups: setup A used hot water and setup B used cold water. Both setups used 1 teaspoon of coffee powder dissolved in 180 mL of water while stirring 28 times. The results showed that the coffee powder dissolved in 10 seconds in the hot water but took 24 seconds to dissolve in the cold water. Therefore, the hypothesis that coffee powder dissolves faster in hot water than cold water was accepted.

Title : The Effect of Temperature of the Water in Dissolving Time of
Coffee Powder
Hypothesis :
1.The coffee powder will dissolve faster in hot water than in cold
water.
Independent Variable : temperature of water (hot and
cold)
Dependent Variable : dissolving time of coffee powder
Constant Variable : amount of water (180 mL)
amount of coffee powder (1 teaspoon)
brand of coffee (Nescafe Classic)
number of stirring (28)
Materials : 2 spoons of coffee powder , 2 spoons , 1 cup of 180 mL
hot water ,1 cup of 180 mL cold water and measuring spoon
Procedure :
1.Put 1 teaspoon of coffee powder in the 180 mL of hot water
and name it set-up A.
2.Put 1 teaspoon of coffee powder in the 180 mL of cold water
and name it set-up B.
3.Stir the mixtures until the coffee powder dissolves in both set-
up.
4.Use a timer and record the time that the coffee powder
dissolve in both cold and hot water.
2. ACIVITY 5
Results and Discussion :
Table 1 : Rate of dissolving coffee powder in different temperature of
water.
Temperature of
water
Dissolving Time
(seconds)
Hot water
(set-up A)
10
Cold water
(set-up B)
24
The Table 1 shows that coffee powder dissolves faster in higher
temperature than in lower temperature of water.
Conclusion :
The hypothesis that the coffee powder dissolves faster in hot
water than in cold water is accepted.Since,
the coffee powder dissolves faster in hot water than in cold water.
