WEEKS 1-2 TRANSPORT OF NUTRIENTS INTHE RESPIRATORY
AND CIRCULATORY SYSTEM & HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
MELC
1. Explain how the respiratory and circulatory systems work
together to transport nutrients, gases, and other molecules to and
from the different parts of the body.
2. Infer how one’s lifestyle can affect the functioning of respiratory
and circulatory systems.
LET’S REVIEW!
What can you see in the picture?
From your lower year you learned
about different organ system.What
organ system you tackled from you
grade 8 Science.
How the digestive system work?

INTRODUCTION
• This lesson will provide you information on how respiratory and
circulatory system work together in transporting nutrients, gases
and other molecules to and from the different parts of the body.
• For respiratory system, you will learn the parts of the human
respiratory system, how gas exchange and transport of nutrients
happen. You can match air flow and blood flow during ventilation
and learn the securing and guarding in the respiratory tract.
• Likewise in circulatory system, you will be familiarized with the
parts of the circulatory system. You will also know more about the
functions and mechanisms involve in it. This lesson is very
important specially this time of pandemic because what is affected
in our body are the main organs of respiratory system and
circulatory system.
TIKTOKTIME!
Have you felt some changes in your body? Try
to feel the left part of your chest.
Do you feel an increased and faster heartbeat
than when you are just sitting or doing a
regular routine of being stationary in your
place?
Are you grasping for more air?

HEALTH OUTBREAK UPDATES
What information can you share to us
about COVID-19?
Nowadays in the time of pandemic, if a
person is experiencing symptoms like fever,
colds and has a hard time breathing, there is
a necessary measure to keep oneself away
from the suspicion of having acquired the
virus that weak-ens the respiratory system.
This can be explained by the interaction of
respira-tory and circulatory system if the
virus gets in the body.

HOWTO BE HEALTHY?
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Directions:Write RS if the statement is for respiratory system and CS if it is
for circulatory System.
1. Pumps the blood into the lungs and throughout the body.
2. The lungs expand, the body inhales fresh air, which is passed down from the
mouth or nose through the trachea into the bronchial tubes of the lungs
and into the tiny alveoli air sacs.
3. When the lung contracts, the body exhales the used air and takes a new
breath.
4. The arteries take the blood from the heart out to the different organs.
5. The final distribution to individual cells is carried out via small blood
vessels called capillaries.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The human respiratory and circulatory systems work together
to supply the body with ______ (oxygen, CO2) and get rid of waste
______ (oxygen, CO2). While the former deals with _______ (air,
blood) and the latter with _______ (air, blood), they work
together seamlessly by coordinating the functions of the many
parts of each system. Other systems in the body, such as the
digestive system and the nervous system, are important too,
but the circulatory and respiratory systems have to work
continuously, usually without pausing even for a few minutes.
