What is Transnational Co-operation ? A transnational issue is a challenge which goes beyond national borders, for which, by its very nature, a satisfactory solution cannot be found at national, regional or local level without co-operation with partners in other countries. Interreg IVB NWE priorities: 2007-13 Developing the NWE knowledge-based economy by capitalising on our capacity for  innovation Priority 1 - €89.3m: €37.9 left Sustainable management of  natural resources   and of  natural and technological risks Priority 2 - €86.9m; €10.1 left Improving  connectivity   in NWE by promoting intelligent and sustainable transport and ICT solutions Priority 3 - €89.3m; €34.1 left Promoting strong and prosperous  communities  at transnational level Priority 4 - €68.5m; €27.1 left
Objective 3.1 To manage transport growth; optimising the capacity of existing(unimodal) freight and passenger  transport infrastructure Objective 3.2 To support effective innovative multi-modal strategic actions and inter operable transport systems Objective 3.3 To develop innovative approaches to the use of ICT in order to improve connectivity, reducing the need to travel and replacing physical mobility through virtual activity for both passenger mobility and freight transport Priority 3: Connectivity
Weastflows –  sustainable freight east-west across NW Europe Watertruck – flexible environmentally friendly push barge for freight on small waterways INLANAV – making small waterways more attractive CODE 24 – Unblocking bottlenecks on the Rotterdam to Genoa corridor InTrade – sustainable movement of freight  inside  ports SINTROPHER – tram train to link inaccessible areas to international rail and air hubs Priority 3: Examples
Visit the programme websites .  Look at approved projects and project ideas (for similar interests and possible partners). Read the Operational Programme and Guidance Notes.  Talk to regional networks and Come to a project development workshop:  Luton 28 th  February  London mid July 2011 Draft outline proposal and develop the partnership (we can help with this) Once you have established a partnership - hold partnership meetings, first draft of application and then meet Programme Secretariat  Build support at local and national level Allow  plenty  of time to develop project What to do next?

The project aims to develop a transport capacity of a large part of the NWE territorial area and has thus a huge potential economic impact for the entire NWE region The partnership involves many different sectors: regional public authorities, research institutions, universities and private enterprises which bring specific expert knowledge The project can also be seen as a platform for the development of innovative ICT management systems for real life freight operational demonstration.
