The Student Behaviour Management policy and protocols support pastoral care and
student wellbeing initiatives within the College. They are premised on the belief that
student learning and wellbeing are best achieved within an environment that is:

All members of the school community share the responsibility to teach, foster, promote
and encourage positive student behaviour. In order to achieve clarity about behaviour
expectations and consistency and fairness in behaviour management within the College,
the policy and protocols outline practices that support positive student behaviours and
sanctions that apply for breaches of behaviour expectations.
The policy and protocols are developed within the framework of policies and guidelines of
the Catholic Education Melbourne (CEM).
Principles
In expecting and supporting appropriate behavior, we enliven the OLMC Vision and
Mission, wherein we seek to:
• Be hospitable to all
• Respect the dignity of each person
• Act for justice in our community
• Nurture a spirit of kindness
• Know the power of forgiveness and offer this to others
• Live authentically guided by the teachings of Jesus and the college values of justice,
courage, compassion and joy.
OLMC’s approach to student behaviour management is based on restorative practices,
which seek to:
• Protect personal and school community safety
• Assist students and staff to recognise the impact of their actions on others
• Nurture and restore relationships
• Help students to learn from their mistakes, grow in self discipline and take
responsibility for their actions.
The College expects that each person will:
• Behave respectfully
• Allow each student to maximise their learning opportunities
• Take responsibility for their own actions
• Promote a safe environment
• Abide by College regulations.

Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. rules created to encourage a safe and pleasant environment around the school grounds. There are also
classroom rules, which are used to maintain an effective learning environment within the classroom.

As adults were all have to obey society's rules and routines, eg pay our bills, wait in queues and not
steal others things. As adults, we know these as laws, customs and good manners and learn the
consequences of breaking them. Students need to learn how to behave and teachers can use rules
and routines to help them do this and consequently create an appropriate learning environment.
A simple positive behaviour strategy used in all schools is the use of rules. A rule in the classroom
is principle that generally governs the pupil's behaviour.
It is vital that a rule is effective in order to create the correct setting. 'Whatever the rule, it should be
established quickly, with firmness and consistency.' (Yeomans and Arnold 2006).

Since he/she came from a broken family, he/she cannot get support from his/her family and in that
way, to get the attention of his/her parents, he/she tend to do what is wrong just to be noticed by his
/her love ones. Students coming from broken families often times become selfish in a way that he
/she is just thinking of his/her own happiness and satisfaction.
The family is the very source of love, support and guidance for each individual. It is where the good
character of a person is uprooted. Without the support and love coming from every member of the
family, the person, particularly the students becomes delinquent or simply lost in their moral values.
A student without moral values knows no straight path. He always go on the wrong side of the track
just to be noticed.
Media also plays an important role in growing individuals. Most of the students nowadays are
exposed to so much in media particularly on local television. Because at a very young age, they are
easily being influenced by what they see and what they hear, especially from those whom they
idolize and frequently see on screen. Sometimes, through media, they witness negative things that
they initiate because it was presented or shown beautifully regardless of being right, or against the
rules.
We cannot deny the fact that even though the parents raised their children in ways which they
