Philosophy
Bascule Preschool allows children to experience the
joy of learning at an early age. It offers an activity
based program structured along the Montessori
principles. Every child has a variety of talents,
capabilities and potential. Successful education
occurs when both parents and the school accept
responsibility of helping each child to reach
constructive maturity to best, and this prepares the
child for the continuing educational experiences
which lie ahead.
School Hours
• Doors open at 7:30. Students can't be
dropped off before this.
• Tardy bell rings at 8:00. Anyone coming after
this will have to get tardy slip from office.

Arrival Procedures
• Students may not be dropped off before 7:30.
• Parent drop-off is in parking lot on side of school.
• Parents wishing to walk their children in the
building must park in a suitable space.

Tardies/Early Checkouts
• Students leaving school prior to dismissal must be
checked-out through the office prior dismissal.
• Picture identification is required.
• Checking-out from school prior to regular
dismissal time more than 4 times per Term will
result in a child not being recognized for perfect
attendance.
Withdrawal of Students
• Parents need to call the office several days before
a student is to be taken out of our system in order
for teacher and office staff to complete all of his or
her records.
• All fees and money owed for pictures, lunch,
damaged or lost books need to be turned in prior
to the student leaving Baldwin.
Medicine
• Medicine will not be given to students unless a
doctor prescribes it.
• All medicine must be in the original container
with label.
• Medication can't be sent to and from school by
the child.
• All medication is kept in office.
Communication
• Students will be allowed to use the phone for
emergencies only.
• All calls during lecture time to teachers will not be
forwarded unless it is an emergency.
• Each child will have at least two
parent/conferences per year. More conferences
will be scheduled if needed.
School Lunch
Each child should bring a healthy snack for lunch. Lunch
time is a social occasion providing children with a variety
of learning opportunities. Teachers role model good
manners, mealtime etiquette, conversation, new
vocabulary and encourage children to try new foods and
understand the value of good health. Children are
encouraged to serve themselves independently and with
assistance, where required, to pour their own drinks, lay
the tables and tidy up. Carbonated drinks and junk food is
not allowed. If your child has any known food allergy, it
must be conveyed personally to the Class Teacher/
Principal.
Snacks
• Sorry, no snacks will be permitted in the
classroom this year.
• Students may bring a WATER bottle to class with
them. No soda or juice please.
Birthdays
You may have a small birthday party in the class. You
have to inform the Class Teacher or the school office
at least two days in advance. Please make sure the
birthday celebration is not elaborate. For the class
birthday party only a cake may be brought, no other
eatables or juices are allowed. Invitations for
personal birthday parties at home can be distributed
through the Class Teacher amongst classmates.
Positive Behaviour
• We expect all students to:
- Treat everyone and everything with respect
and dignity.
- Be safe and orderly.
- Take responsibility for learning and do your
best at all times.
- Do the right thing.
Dismissal
• Teachers and staff will escort students to school
ground, and finally parent pick up.
• Any changes in a child's dismissal procedures
must be stated in a written note with parent
signature. We can't accept changes over the
phone for security reasons.
Homework
• Students will have homework each day.
• All homework is due the next day.
• Homework grades will go into the computer -
5 points per day.
- 1 point for neatness
- 1 timely submitting
- 3 points for correct work.
More Homework ....
• 1 point automatically taken off if homework is not
turned in on time.
• If a child is absent, they have the amount of
days they were absent to turn in all missed
assignments and homework.
• Sticker for each day homework is turned in.
Tests
• End of chapter test are taken regularly.
• Assessment tests are taken after completion of
syllabus
• Mid term exams are taken in October
• Final exams are taken at the end of school year in
march
