This document outlines various scholarly thinking and writing skills including comparing literature, contrasting, analyzing quantitative data, evaluating qualitative information, integrating ideas, paraphrasing, and creating original work. It then provides examples of potential project paper topics that require students to apply several of these skills. Topics involve writing a journal from the perspective of a Renaissance artist, conducting a survey on characteristics of gentlemen/ladies and reporting the results, writing a letter describing experiencing witnessing the Bayeux Tapestry battle, or an essay identifying and arguing for the most useful inventions from ancient China. The project paper must address all parts of the chosen topic, cite at least three sources, and will be graded on various elements including following instructions and writing mechanics
