2. Our purpose
As long as exposed garbage and slums continue to exist, dog-killing
programmes cannot work. They only create an unstable, constantly
changing, rapidly multiplying and rabies-carrying dog population
In Mumbai in the late 1980s and early 1990s, there were about 50
human rabies deaths every year in spite of a large scale dog-killing
programme. Government sources claim that over half of human
rabies deaths are caused by unvaccinated pets, so the killing of
strays had no impact on human rabies
We hope to raise awareness about the impact of rabies on humans
and animals, prevention steps and vaccination for rabies.

4. What we can do to help
In Hong Kong, we will be keeping in touch with the charities we
contacted. To support foundations, we will be raising money and
collecting donations for causes such as vaccination and such. We will
also raise awareness on this issue, making flyers and leaflets
advertising the issue.
Students are also allowed to purchase a variety of Dog toys/bones
for the Dogs to play with/chew on.

8. What Do We Hope To Gain
From This Experience
● We hope to feel at the end of the trip that
we have done our best.
● To appreciate how lucky we are to have
things that others less fortunate do not
have.
● To have a better understanding and to
have gained knowledge of the situation
the dogs are in.
