one problem solving situation that I’ve witnessed
 One problem-solving situation that I’ve witnessed was through a
language barrier between a mandarin speaking parent, and one of the
preschool teachers that I've worked with.
 One of the incidents was when the pre-school teacher has attempted
to address to the parent that due to their child's constant request for
food, it is suggested that they should pack more food for their child.
 Due to the language barriers that the parents had with English, she
was unable to comprehend the situations that the pre-school teacher
was trying to address. From there I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone
and asked if the parent speaks Mandarin and was able to use my
Mandarin speaking skills to help translate and forward the message to
the parent.
+
What I’ve learned with regards to the role that early childhood educators plays
 Based on my observation it appeared
that the key role that Early Childhood
Educators play is to intrigue children
with fun activities that foster students’
curiosity through singing worship songs,
making crafts, and reading storybooks.
 The love and charm possessed within
the preschool teachers at Surrey
Christian are evident towards their care
for the children while ensuring that they
are kept in a safe environment where
they feel loved and cared for.
+ Projects created by the students
+
The biggest concerns I faced in my work experience placement.
 The main concerns that I've faced in my
work experience placement were the
uncertainty to step in and problem solve
some of the major conflicts amongst
children.
 Due to the guidance from the preschool
teachers, however, I’ve learned to
resolve some of these conflicts by
mediating children in conversations.
+ the most important lesson I’ve learned about the world of work and how
this will help me in the future
 One of the most important lessons that I’ve retrieved
from the world of work is the unit Education and Training
where it states "you don't have to exist your educational
life with a high level of education degree but you DO
have to be willing to continually train, upgrade and
improve your skills.”
 This statement reminds me of the importance of
considering myself as a life-long learner by having a
positive attitude to constantly seek improvement in the
field I hope to further pursue beyond my post-secondary
education.
 I trust that this unit will aid me in my future career in
ways that will motivate me to seek for improvements
while sharpening my capacity as a prospective educator.
+ A thank you card for my

A thank you card from my supervisor and all the preschool educators at SCS’s

+Due to the positive experiences that I’ve had in this course, I’ve decided to
apply for the ECE program at Douglas College.

My Acceptance Letter from
Douglas
College
+ My overall experience in this course
 In short, I am beyond grateful for the opportunity that this course has
offered me. While I’ve always enjoyed working within the social service
sector, working alongside the ECE professionals at SCS has confirmed my
passion and aspiration to work with young children.
 I trust that with more guidance and schooling at Douglas, I will soon
become a dedicated, and educated early childhood educator who has the
knowledge to provide quality care for those under my future care.
