Santorini is a popular Greek island located in the Cyclades islands in the southern Aegean Sea. It formed from volcanic explosions that left the island with steep cliffs and a central caldera filled with water. The island is home to around 7,000 residents spread across 10 villages and has a temperate climate suitable for grape and tomato cultivation. Santorini has archaeological sites from the Minoan era and was devastated by a massive volcanic eruption around 1600 BC. Tourism is now a major industry, attracting thousands of visitors annually to see the island's sunset views and architecture.
