Autobiography My name is Michael Smith and I was born on .docxrock73
Autobiography
My name is Michael Smith and I was born on the 30th of August, 1967 in Long Beach,
California. My parents were Eddie Smith and Joan Smith. Both of my parents are deceased.
My mom died at the age of 57 in 1994 from lung cancer which was the result of smoking her
whole lifetime. My father died at the age of 69 in 2006 from a massive heart attack, which was
also the likely result from a lifetime of smoking. Fortunately I have been smart enough to avoid
that bad habit.
My early childhood was a typical middle class environment circa the 1960's. My dad
worked for Simpson Buick as a parts salesman and my mom was a stay at home mother. I had a
happy, normal childhood as an only child, leaving me somewhat spoiled. My mom and dad
divorced when I was eight years old and both remarried within a year or so of the divorce. My
dad remained married to my stepmom Bev until his death. My mom would marry two more
times. My first stepdad Vince became a big part of my life and I maintained close contact with
him until his death in 2006, two days after my real dad died. Yes, that was a very bad week,
losing both of my dads.
Growing up with split parents was not especially difficult since each of my parents kept
me out of their divorce and they got along fine at events where both of them were present. I
lived with my mom until I was 16 and in high school. By my sophomore year in high school I
had begun to hang around with friends that got me into a lot of trouble with a number of things
including smoking pot and drinking. I was rapidly heading down a negative path, but was
fortunate enough to notice it before I had done any serious damage. I moved in with my dad and
changed high schools and friends.
With the fresh start I was able to finish high school without further incident, graduating
from Downey High School in 1985. Even with my questionable behavior earlier in my life I had
always wanted to become a police officer, which I could not do until I was 21 years of age. So,
to kill time and stay out of trouble I joined the United States Army immediately after turning 18.
I joined the army and was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia for basic training, advanced infantry
training, and finally airborne jump school. After becoming a paratrooper (11B1P, Airborne
Infantry) I was assigned to Bravo Company, 2/325th Airborne Infantry Regiment.
What stands out the most about my time in the army are the extremes that you are
subjected to. Some of my happiest memories and some of my worst memories come from my
time in the army. One thing that I am sure of is that it shaped me to become the man that I am
now. The army really straightened me out from my troubled teenage years. When I came out of
the army I had put on 50 solid pounds and was old enough to attempt to become a police officer.
Fresh out of the service I waited on tables and did some bartending while in the ...

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.

Automobile Management System Project Report.pdfKamal Acharya
The proposed project is developed to manage the automobile in the automobile dealer company. The main module in this project is login, automobile management, customer management, sales, complaints and reports. The first module is the login. The automobile showroom owner should login to the project for usage. The username and password are verified and if it is correct, next form opens. If the username and password are not correct, it shows the error message.
When a customer search for a automobile, if the automobile is available, they will be taken to a page that shows the details of the automobile including automobile name, automobile ID, quantity, price etc. “Automobile Management System” is useful for maintaining automobiles, customers effectively and hence helps for establishing good relation between customer and automobile organization. It contains various customized modules for effectively maintaining automobiles and stock information accurately and safely.
When the automobile is sold to the customer, stock will be reduced automatically. When a new purchase is made, stock will be increased automatically. While selecting automobiles for sale, the proposed software will automatically check for total number of available stock of that particular item, if the total stock of that particular item is less than 5, software will notify the user to purchase the particular item.
Also when the user tries to sale items which are not in stock, the system will prompt the user that the stock is not enough. Customers of this system can search for a automobile; can purchase a automobile easily by selecting fast. On the other hand the stock of automobiles can be maintained perfectly by the automobile shop manager overcoming the drawbacks of existing system.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

1. Running Head: INFORMATIONAL INTERVIEW
Informational Interview Assignment
Vincent Santini
Texas Tech University
My career of choice to interview was for an Air Force Officer. There is a lot for jobs in the Air
Force. Many of which have many complex jobs that are really hard to describe on paper. So getting a
first-hand account of those jobs is a valuable learning experience to see what you want to do in the Air
Force. Of course, all the airmen that you deal with and ask about their jobs make it sound so cool. So it is
really hard to choose what you want to do because when you interview a pilot, you want to be a pilot
afterword. When you interview an Explosive Ordinance Disposal guy, you want to be in the elite of the
2. Running Head: INFORMATIONAL INTERVIEW
civil engineering squadron with the Explosive Ordinance Disposal certification. Side Note: I do
understand that this assignment did not want a written transcript of the interview, but I feel that my
interpretation of his answers is just too good not to post on this assignment. Because of this interview I
am super excited to apply for this career in the Air Force. The thing I like the most was the brotherhood
aspect of the job and environment. The thing I like the least was being away from your family and friends
because of deployments, and the divorce rates. I got a document detailing it but it is way too much to put
on this assignment.
What is your job in the Air Force? Air Liaison Officer(ALO),13L (13 Lima)
What is it that you enjoy about your job? He said he enjoyed that he was the tip of the spear when he did
his job. He enjoys bringing his people home and when the infantry have no where else to go and they are
pinned down, the ALO gets them out of the fix by calling in Air Strikes and other forms of fire. They
enjoy the training and the type of people that come out of the career field. The brotherhood is what he
noted the most. I would love a job that had that kind of brotherhood. You have a select group of
individuals that are high speed, motivated, and passionate about what they do. They go through ‘the suck’
with these airmen, and that creates a bond unlike any other. In the civilian world, you will see the people
are career oriented. Some are so career oriented, that they will step on whoever they need to in order to
get ahead. With a brotherhood that is in the military you know that your battle buddy has your six no
matter what. That is what I look for in a career to retire from. I feel that my physical fitnees can line up
perfectly with this career field. I need to have a bachelors degree to start.
Do you get promoted fast like the pilots do? He told me that the Air Force is a pilot’s world, and that the
pilots do get promoted more often and faster than anyone else in the Air Force. Since the Air Force is not
a service that has a primary focus of ground combat, positions in the Air Force that are related to ground
combat don’t usually promote past Lieutenant Colonel. The flow chart that he showed me showed as you
get promoted and move up the chart, the positions get less. That is the nature of the Air Force.
3. Running Head: INFORMATIONAL INTERVIEW
What bases would you go to state side? Medina Air Force Base,Army Airborne in Fort Benning, and
really any Army camp, fort, or base. When we are deployed, we are wherever they need us.
How often do you get deployed? Pretty often he says. When they are stateside they do a lot of paperwork
and training. Their job is to be deployed with the Army Units so they can bring Air Power to the fight.
And that can only happen in the Area of Operation
What is your political state of affairs on what you are doing in the other side of the world? He declined to
answer, saying that if he talked bad about his commander in chief, that he could be seen as a traitor, and it
is not wise to make the people you swore an oath too angry. He said that is a common thing throughout
the Armed Services. It is a cultural norm.
How does the military take care of you and your family? The Air Force will take care of all your moving,
housing, food, uniforms, and anything else you may need. That is stateside though. There is a whole
process that you have to go through so the Air Force makes sure that you and your affairs are taken care
of before you deploy. That involves your family also.
What is the health care for military, and what is it like? Tricare is amazing. I myself have used in the past
when my father was deployed. It is awesome. You pay 15% of your premium and your good for the rest
of the year. Cheapest medical payments I have ever paid. They accept that in most places, and you don’t
have to register health care professionals on the card, which in my opinion is stupid. For as long as you
serve, you and your family get those benefits.
How long is the training, and what do you do? This one was a lengthy one. He said if you are enlisted you
have to go through basic training and Technical Job School. They call it the school house on base. If
you’re an officer, you have to go through either Air Force ROTC or you have to go through Officer
Candidate School.
What do you do on a day-to-day basis? He says he does officer stuff. Like awards, decorations, and
evaluation. He also runs the training schedule for his squadron.
4. Running Head: INFORMATIONAL INTERVIEW
What would you want a cadet to know about deploying in your AFSC? ALOs are now doing 9 month
deployments and TBD time off. So be prepared for that.
How long are your workdays? Stateside it is from 9am till 5pm. But really they stay till the work is done.
What do you do during your free time? He plays video games and goes shooting. And he likes watching
TV and movies. He has a weird obsession with League of Legends though.
Thank you Letter:
Thank you LTC Petuee for meeting with me for the information interview. You got me reall excited about
the career field and I am excited to try out. I hope you get promoted soon.
