2. Sangeet Mahal & Nari Mahal
The Sangeet – Nari Mahal built at
Navraspur , Bijapur is located 3
kilometres (1.9 mi) away from Bijapur
town. It is one of the important
structures typically representing the
Adilshahi architecture in the area. It was
built in the 16th century. It now has ruins
of a palace building and a reservoir,
enclosed by a high wall
3. Founded by Ibrahim Adilshah II, Navraspur is
an ancient musical township, 5 km from Bijapur. It
was the center for Hindustani Music. The temple
that Ibrahim Adilshah II built stands to this day as
the hallmark of a bygone era. Navraspur is a
quaint spot surrounded by cultivated plots of
ground and forests of prickly pear. The old fort,
palaces and other heaps of ruins evoke memories
of the past. Sangeet Mahal and Nari Mahal are
significant historical monuments. Navraspur
festival featuring the maestros of Indian music is
held here every year in February.
