PROJECT: Mort Program
Synopsis:
Experian provides consumers, businesses and the public sector with information and analysis to help
them make important decisions. Experian Ltd is a third party client that holds the information about
almost all the people in UK, Ireland and provides the same to the financial agencies for credit checks.
Experian’s credit bureau is accessed by more than 650 clients.
Mort program is all about changing the existing system of Experian to a newly created upgraded
system which provide faster data access. Existing file based and very old M204 database platform is
converted to Pin based relational database system. The existing system is residing on sequential file,
VSAM files, M204 database which has several constraints for accessing data. Hence Experian decided
to change its platform to a more upgraded EXPIN system. The existing system allows consumer and
commercial data accessed based on Name and Address where as the new EXPIN system access the
data via PIN, which is much faster than the earlier. Some of the major products of Experian which will
be built under the new platform are DCM, CVP, BI, CAIS, CAPS, CIFAS, PI, RESIDENCE
CHECKER, ADRESS LINK, CATO etc.

The current project is regarding loading of CATO data to EXPIN database. This data source contains
Bank detail information of customers. The details of debit, credit, and balance information for 72
months are stored in various CATO tables and these tables are updated daily and on monthly basis
based on the Credit, Debit and Balance details of each customer related to particular portfolio to create
accurate credit reports for customers for a particular portfolio.
This data will enable to determine:
 Accurately confirm a consumer’s net monthly income.
 Flag up to our clients when a persons financial situation changes.
 Be able accurately calculate indebtedness and to accurately assess affordability.
 Better safe guard against application/sleeper fraud.
