Myself description
I am Sandile Khanyi, a 20-Year-old boy from Mpumalanga, Piet Retief. I am currently
studying B Ed at the University of Johannesburg majoring in business management and
School ICT support. I am an introvert whose life revolves around academics but other
than that I find interest in football, music and entrepreneurial activities.
Expectations
 I expect to learn on how to enhance the way I teach through the use of
technological resources
 I expect to learn more technological resources suitable to employ in the
classroom for specific topics.
 I expect to learn how to assess learners to their full benefit using online
platforms.
 I expect to learn accommodative ways of teaching using technology.
 I expect to learn classroom management skills needed to effectively teach using
technology.
My Technological Abilities.
I would range my technological ability as good as they have elevated over the years I
spent at the University of Johannesburg. I am a School Support ICT student and I have
gained a lot of skills from the lecturers and the tutors. I studied Computer Application
Technology at school and I have built on that foundation n sharpened my technological
skills in both software and hardware.
The biggest challenge faced
The biggest challenge I currently face is putting the theory I learn in action during school
experience. I feel the University of Johannesburg is too theoretical and less practical
which makes it difficult for me to get used to teaching and being able to implement the
strategies and tricks we learn as we spent only three weeks of school experience a
year.
The educator I want to be
I want to be an innovative educator, one who finds better ways to make learning more
meaningful to learners and to enhance their creative thinking abilities. I seek to be the
kind of the teacher who provokes learners to want to learn more and discover more
knowledge outside the curriculum.
Why I get up in the morning
What gets me up in the morning is the possibility to change lives as a future educator.
Education has change my life hence knowing that I am studying towards changing other
people’s lives serves as motivation for me to get up in the morning.
