Body Of Christ Paper
In the Christian faith the Body of Christ symbolizes both Christ s physical body given for us and
the Church as a whole. Christ died giving up His physical body in order for believers to have
eternal life. Because Christ did so the group of people that believe Jesus died for their sin and
have a personal relationship with Christ are referred to as the Body of Christ. By taking many
science course, especially physiology, I know how important each part of the physical bodyis in
order for the whole body to function properly. There is an analogy that can be drawn about how
the Body of Christ as believer is similar the physical body in that it cannot function without all of
the parts. Each individual brings a different piece to the Body of Christ... Show more content on

I personally feel fellow followers and I have unique gifts that help us contribute to the Body of
Christ. In high school I felt that my part of the Church was to evangelize through my ability to
run whether that be on the team or through putting on 5K races to raise money for Gods people.
I still believe that God has blessed me this the ability to run well to glorify His kingdom. Now as
a college student at Wheaton College my part of the Body seems to be a little different; I no
longer stand alone in my faith in my classes, but I also I have fewer chances to speak to non
believers. I feel currently that I my part of the Body of Christ is to learn and learn well, in order
to contribute well in the future but also contribute as a student. This maybe through an
internship, research, lab or simply class my current function is glorify God in all that I do. I also
feel called to medicine, but this calling is backed up by characteristics that Gods has blessed me
with. My top strengths include: empathy, responsibility, consistency, harmony, and developer; I
found this out with the strengths finder test. I find that these characteristic along with caring for
the well being of people will help me benefit God s people through health care. The Body of Christ

Flaws Of Democracy
In regard to Natasha and Graham s point, while oligarchies have potential flaws there are also a
number of issues with the democratic system. For starters, true democracy is not well suited for
government because it requires an entire nation to vote and run a country while maintaining their
normal lives. As a result, America and many other countries are actually Republics or representative
democracies. However, even these systems of governmenthave many inherent flaws. For starters,
for a democracyor even a representative democracy to work the votingelectorate must be informed
accurately. This proves to be impossible in real society due to the mass of issues and the trouble
with biased media. For example, the United States today functions

Essay About Canada Have Too Many Laws
As we all know, there are a lot of laws in Canada. For example, the Foreign Investment Review Act
, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms , the Aboriginal Law and so on, all belong to the Canadian
laws.In my opinion, Canada has too many laws simply because of the lack of universality, the
ignorant of the differences between the impact of law and morality, and also the limitations which
existed in its laws.
To tell the truth, firstly, I think Canadahas too many laws because of the lack of universality
reflected by its laws.Nowadays, the society and also the quality of people are both developing
rapidly day by day. However, from a deeper point of view, we could easily seek out the truth under
the peaceful and harmonious surface of the modern

Comparing Milner And Goodale s Theory Of D. F.
The existence of two visual systems was first suggested by Schneider (1969), and later confirmed
by Ungerleider and Mishkin (1982) who claimed pathways that transmit information from the
primary visual cortex are components of two main streams: dorsal and ventral. From experiments
on monkeys, they established their what versus where theory, which states that the dorsal stream is
responsible for object localisation and the ventral stream is responsible for object identification.
Their theory was only popular until the 1990s, when other researchers began to suggest it may be
inadequate. Amongst those was Milner and Goodale (1995) who offered an alternative approach.
They agreed that the ventral stream creates conscious representations of the... Show more content on

A patient named D.F. suffered from this, and provided a great amount of support for Milner and
Goodale s theory. Although her low level visual functions such as target detection and colour
discrimination were normal, her ability to recognize familiar faces and common objects was
impaired. Yet when shown real objects rather than drawings, D.F. could recognize them.
However, upon further examination of this ability it was found that D.F. was using surface
properties such as colour, rather than the outline of the shape to identify the object (Humphrey et
al 1994). What confirmed Milner and Goodale s theory was that D.F. could grasp objects that she
could not entirely perceive. Initial experiments by Milner et al (1991) highlighted this. In these
D.F. was given a disc and had to perform either a perceptual orientation matching task or a
visuomotor task. It was found that although she could not explain the orientation of the slot, her
performance on the visuomotor task where she had to post the disc into the slot was typical.
Milner and Goodale (1995) argued this was because D.F s ventral stream was severely impaired,
and the visuomotor skills she still had were due to an intact dorsal stream. This dissociation found
between perception and action only increased the idea that the ventral and dorsal stream are
independently working

Nacirema Summary And Analysis
When I first enrolled in this class, I never thought I would get anything out of it besides the
knowledge, which I found to be completely interesting. But now I can honestly say that this is
probably one of the most useful classes I could have possibly taken in college. We live in times
where people are very exclusive and frightened of what they do not know. It is in times like this
when those who possess knowledge must do everything in their power to be as inclusive and
accepting as possible. This class also showed me that we cannot categorize things as normal or not.
Instead, we should look through the beholder eyes and try to empathize in full measure.
To start, one article that really changed my perspective was the Nacirema one. When I first read it, I
thought those people the author was referring to acted strangely. Even though the author got his
point across in an exaggerated way, it really made me realize how unaware people can look when
judging others for not doing normal things, when in reality, the things those people consider normal
, may be strange for others.
Furthermore, in class activities further expanded my knowledge and allowed our group to
communicate our ideas freely. One particular example was from ... Show more content on

Both of them explained how essential the work of anthropologists is. I do not think many people
are willing to go to isolated places and learn a completely new culture, but anthropologists do so
in many ways. For example, those who use the etic perspective are able to emerge in a culture and
become part of it. On the other hand, those who use the emic perspective, choose to be an observer
and would rather do research from an outsiders standpoint. After learning about anthropologists and
what they do, I realized that they are examples to follow because they constantly remind us that
humans are capable of being open minded if we really want to, some people just choose not

The Prayer Of A Public School
Many people in Southern Missouri believe that we need to have more religion in schools. Keep
Christ in Christmas, One nation under God, and post the Ten Commandments on every wall in
public buildings. This is an easy rallying cry because most people in rural Southwest Missouri
share the same Christian beliefs. There is a place for these types of soapboxes. That place is
called church. Schools are designed to prepare students for the college and career. Churches are
designed to prepare congregations for the after life. As the law mandates, each organization is
separate and each plays a vital role in the betterment of our communities. In order to address
religious celebrations in schools, one must address how religionshould be handled in the day to day
educational operation of a public school. The First Amendment Center provides a great guide and
tips on How to Handle Religious Holidays in Public Schools. The article reminds educators that
schools may not promote any religion, but may teach about religion. As an English teacher one
cannot have their class read The Crucible without educating their students on the Puritan faith. Most
freshmen in Missouri read Romeo and Juliet. To understand the true motivations of the Juliet the
reader must have a basic understanding of Catholicism. The same idea is true in Social Studies.
Educators cannot ignore religion, they just cannot promote it. Students in rural Southwest Missouri
have not experienced the

The phrase he put in title of the story A Very Old Man remind me the religion and in fact,
Christianity because of the author s location and society that he lived in. GarcГa MГЎrquez wants
to describe a world which every people use religion to make money and reach the higher level of
society to make life easier to spend. He wants to throw everyone s attention that catholic churches
in South America are not in a good path. And priests want to make people their slaves. He shows
the corruption of catholic churches in his story The parish priest had his first suspicion of an
imposter when he saw that he did not understand the language of God or know how to greet His

Bad Relationships In Someone Like You
Causes of Bad Relationship
A bad relationship may develop without your notice. In the film Someone Like You , the most
obvious example is the relationship between Ray and Jane. The breakdown is not a sudden effect,
but a gradual development.
It all starts with the imbalance of giving. According to Cher Carter Scott, dangers arises when one
person gives too little in a relationship. In the movie, Jane invests everything, including her heart,
body (sex) and future life (cohabitation). However, Ray is the opposite. All he can give is the short
term excitement and passion. As Robert Solomon suggested, their desire mismatch leads to
coordination problem.
Their love at first sight relationship also lacks a strong foundation to overcome challenges.
Applying Robert Sternberg s triangular theory of love, Ray and Jane s form of love is Romantic
Love (intimacy + passion). In their first meeting, they feel attracted to one another. Eventually
intimacy grows and they start dating. The process is filled with passion. However, Ray is not
ready for commitment. He never has a clear cut with Diane. Jane feels unsafe and uncertain as the
triangular relationship continues. The bond between Ray and Jane gets weaker day by day, such
that any quarrels can break it easily.
The key to further worsen the relationship is poor communication. Taking the case of cohabitation

Medical Ethics And Ethics Regarding Medical Marijuana
RESEARCH PAPER
Medical Ethics Ethics Regarding Medical Marijuana by Sowmya Kondapuram
Medical ethics is a system of morals and values that apply judgments to the practice of medicine.
Medical ethics mainly deals with behavior of physician and the decisions they have to make rather
than how to treat patients. Physicians face these kind of questions and dilemmas often. Simply put
ethics in medicine is about making decisions that are moral and just. Medicine is both science and
an art, where science implies physicians to recognize signs of illness, treat or cure the patients and
art involves making right decisions in ethical situations.
Medical Ethics:
All doctors take a certain oath or pledge before taking up on their career. They take up the
following oaths
п‚· Pledge to consecrate their life to service of humans.
п‚· Will respect their patients.
п‚· Practice their profession with conscience and dignity.
п‚· Health of patient would be their primary importance.
п‚· Main autonomy by protecting the secrets of the patients.
п‚· Not permit age, race, social status, disease, nationality or any other factor to falter their
decisions.
п‚· Respect for human life.
п‚· Will behave professionally at all times.
Non Rational Approaches to Ethical Issues:

Exploration of Castles Essay
Exploration of Castles
A.D 450 saw the creation of castles. Romans were replaced by Anglo Saxon foes, and these did
leave behind a system of castles however these were for Motte and Bailey castles built in the reign
of Edward the confessor.
The Norman invasion of 1066 was one of the causes for castles to become an important part of
defence. After king Harold s defeat by William the conqueror, William was concerned about how
he would control the country with only a limited number of troops facing a hostile environment. He
did not have enough troops to station them everywhere, so he used a very useful tactic that had
worked in Normandy previously. This was a simplified castle known as a ... Show more content on

The pathways and ladders that allowed reach to important areas of the castle have been removed
or destroyed; and the enemy are at a disadvantage because they are facing attack from a raised level.
As time progressed, the situation in England changed. The Normans were now in control of
England and there was little resistance from hostile sources, therefore a concentration on the
development of castles occurred.
Less time was needed for castles to be constructed quickly and therefore time could be used to
search for better materials for building. This meant that stone could be used instead of wood,
which was used previously. By 1100, the earth that had held Motte and bailey castles had now
settles, and was capable of sustaining much larger weights. With the change to stone castles, fire
was not a concern as it was when Motte and baileys were in use.
Square keeps were used when the development of stone castles were quite young. They were
often built in the most important places, to show how powerful the Normans were. Square keeps
were good because of the immense thickness of the walls. The walls in square keeps were often up
to 5 metres thick, and 30 metres high. This added to the strength of the castle because the walls
could easily withstand attacks from siege weapons such as magonels and trebuchets.

Essay On Kansas City Vs University
Sometimes it is the smallest decisions that can change your life forever. This quote by Keri Russell

in their growth into an adult. Comparing colleges can often prove to be difficult and overwhelming.
Although very close in location the universityof Kansas (KU) is very different than the university
of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC). The university of Kanas is a much better school than the
university of Missouri, Kansas City because of its superior campus style, welcoming community

is the large campus style. KU has a campus size of over 1,000 acres and 130 separate buildings

Evolution Of Live Birth And Snakes
Evolution of Live Birth in Snakes
The evolution of how snakes reproduce by bearing live offspring will be discussed by determining,
the evolutionary pathway of live birth, viviparity, egg laying birth, oviparity and giving live birth
but being kept in the womb in eggs until being ready to hatch, ovoviviparity. Discussion of the
advantages and disadvantages of each reproduction method will be determined. The objective of
this paper is to discuss the factors that have contributed to the evolution of snakes being viviparous.
The way snakes give birth is either through live birth, viviparity, or by laying eggs, oviparity.
Snakes are located within, Reptilia, the same class many dinosaurs were located in. Reptiles are the
descendants of creatures in the Paleozoic period called, Labrynthodonts. One of the earliest reptiles
that resembles the snake is the, Eophis, an eight inch long snake that lived in England (Guillette
Jr. 1993). The Eophis was very different compared to modern snakes, Eophis had four legs and is
believed to have been living near water. The limbs are what enabled Eophis to move rapidly in
water (Guillette Jr., 1993). Around 100 million years ago the limbs in Eophis were loss and
limbless snakes evolved (Guillette Jr., 1993). The fossil record of early snakes is very rare due to
snakes consisting of many small and very fragile bones making them easily destroyed. Most of the
species classified within Reptilia are oviparous. (Guillette Jr., 1993). Snakes are no

International Version 1984)
Through the prophet, Isaiah, the Lord conveys to Israel the perseverance of the covenant between
Israel and himself, despite Israel s violation of the covenant. The Lord promises restoration to
himself through his compassion because of his love for Israel. Israel was painted as an adulteress
in Hosea, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and many other scriptures due to her pursuit of other gods, yet, like
Hosea and his prostitute bride, the Lord welcomes her back countless times because of his own
faithfulness to the covenant (Patterson, 2008). The Lord has shown since ancient times his desire
for the covenant bond of marriage to reflect his own relationship with his people. Now he shows
this marriage covenant through Christ and the New Covenant. The people of God are broadened to
include Gentiles through the Lord s covenant with Abraham (Galatians 3:6 9) and are all pledged in
relationship with God through the blood covenant of Christ s sacrifice. When the covenant is
entered, nothing can sever it, including our own actions (Romans 8:38 39). On this foundation, the
Lord establishes the

It is important for Breweries to develop employee policies and procedures that communicate
appropriate expectations to the employees. In the state of North Carolina, breweries must follow
the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, The Americans Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in

our brewery must face. Failing to remit correct taxes to correct agencies at the right times could
turn into fines or audits. According to Chris Crowell from Craft Brewing Business, OSHA is
becoming more aggressive in setting and enforcing new safety and health requirements. And not

The Killing Of Kitty Genovese Dorman Summary
Is it the correct thing to do and our duty as humans to help each other out? In the article, The
Killing of Kitty Genovese by Michael Dorman, the author describes how a young woman named
Kitty Genovese was stabbed while 38 neighbors watched from above. One man yelled out, Let
that girl alone. In effect, the predator walked away. Immediately after the neighbors closed their
windows he came ferociously and stabbed her four more times until she eventually bled out and
died. Overall, in this situation was it truly that hard to pick up a cell phone and phone the police?
The failure to take action can lead to many more fatalities and injuries in the long run as it did in
the case of Kitty Genovese. People should be punished for not doing anything

The Impact Of The Emancipation Proclamation
Although there were more than four million slaves living in the U.S. at this time, the
Emancipation Proclamation did not formally free a single one of them. So that presents us with a
couple of very interesting questions: first, why did Lincoln issue the proclamation if it had no
practical effect? Second, why is the Emancipation Proclamation considered Lincoln s most
important legacy if it didn t actually free anyone? Washington D.C., summer 1862. The Civil War
had been going on for over a year, and it was not going well for Abraham Lincoln. 11 of the 15
southern states where slavery was legal had formed the Confederate States of America(CSA) and
were waging a war to break free from the United States. Lincoln was determined that the nation
was not going to fall apart on his watch. During the first year of the civil war, the Confederate
Army had won the majority of important battles. When Lincoln became president, he had had
no intention of abolishing slavery. Though he personally despised slavery and had won the
presidency on an anti slavery platform, he would gladly have given up any chance of ending
slavery in the South if it meant that the Confederate states would rejoin the United States. With
no hope of bringing the South back into the United States by protecting slavery, Lincoln had a
new dilemma. His own political party, the Republicans, had formed around their opposition to
slavery. Many of the more radical politicians in the party saw the secession of the South as the
best opportunity to abolish slavery once and for all. As the US war dead piled up, more and more
Northerners began to push Lincoln to punish the states that had seceded by making abolition a
major goal of the war. The problem with abolishing slavery, however, was that there were still four
slave states that had not seceded from the United States: Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland, and
Delaware. Lincoln feared that if he advocated emancipation he would provoke those states into
joining the Confederacy, making the war even more difficult to win. Of the border states, Maryland
was particularly worrisome, because the US capital at Washington D.C. sat on its border with
Virginia. If Maryland decided to join the Confederacy, Washington D.C.

Middle School Are Essential For The Success Of Students
For me, middle school was probably the most excruciating years of my life. I thought it was only
me and everyone else had it easy and completely understood everything that was happening to
their bodies and minds. In fact, I still have dreams about my middle school years like forgetting
my locker combination or hiding in the bathroom stall because the most popular girls were
gossiping about a friend of yours. The settings in these dreams are always my middle school; I find
it amazing that thirty years after I attended school that I can remember vivid details about the
layout, hallways, lockers, and teachers. The reason for this I believe is that for ALL students the
middle school years are the most influential to shaping and becoming who a person is and who they
wish to become. Middle schools are essential for the success of students because of the unique
developmental stages of these students. For teachers, comprehension of young adolescent
development is key to understanding the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and moral needs
and interests of these students (Powell, 2015, p. 55) and also teachers need to develop a curriculum
that is focused on developing students competence in all subject matter and using their knowledge
and available resources to design, implement, and evaluate challenging, responsive curriculums that
result in meaningful learning outcomes (Powell, 2015, p. 145). All students should feel that they

The Pros And Cons Of Counselling
Counselling is a form of conversational therapy to help individuals with psychosocial difficulties
that are unlikely to benefit from prescribed medication (Changing opinion on value of
counselling, 2001). Counselling occurs between a trained professional known as a counsellor
and an individual in distress, which is the client (Sibbald B et al, 1996). Counselling is a method
of identifying practical solutions to assist to help resolve an individual s problem. During the
counselling session, the client speaks about his or her inner emotions, thoughts and feelings
(Corey G, 1995). Counsellors play various roles and use various styles, but what they have in
common is an intention to let the client speak more, while they speak less and listen more.
Thereby, a counsellor s first task is to determine what the issues are for the client and how the client
tends to view them (Lord W, 1993). The client may not be in an agreement with the current situation

The Human Genome Project and Patenting DNA Essay
The Human Genome Project: Patenting DNA
The Human Genome Project is a global initiative to map the approximately 100,000 genes present
in the genome of humans. Planning for the project was started in 1989 with a proposal submitted
by the Office of Technology Assessment and the National Research Council. In 1990, the actual
project began under the joint leadership of the National Institutes of Health and the Department of
Energy. The goals of the project are as follows:
Mapping and sequencing the human genome
Mapping and sequencing the genomes of model organisms
Data collection and distribution
Ethical, legal, and social consideration

The downside of this genome mania is high expectations. Current market values of life science
companies are very high. Companies are faced with a lot of pressure from shareholders to provide
new blockbuster therapies that will net those investors large profits. The problem with this
mentality is that research takes a lot of time and a lot of money (2). The fear of some researchers
is that industry will not be open with the results of their genome research, sequestering away
nucleic acid sequences in private databases, or tying up huge amounts of information in pending
patents. This goes against the original aim of the project which was to place all information
gathered in free, publicly accessible databases. Recent developments in the Human Genome Project
only heightened these fears.
On May 9, 1998, Crag Venter, president of The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR), announced
his company was teaming up with pharmaceutical giant Perkin Elmer to sequence the human
genome in just three years (3). This news took the genetics community by storm. The original plan
called for a single, cohesive strategy to thoroughly map the human genome in a linear method. The
new Perkin Elmer/TIGR partnership planned to sequence the genome with a new method called
whole genome shotgun sequencing. By this method, DNA would be chopped up, sequenced all at
once, and supercomputers would be used to assemble the

Colonialism And Colonisation
The colonisation and subjugation of the minds of indigenous peoples was an integral part in the
successful domination of nationstates by global powers such as the United Kingdom. Colonialism,
the policy of ruling other territories for ones own benefit, normally by force, dominated the worlds
stage for hundreds of years, ravaging the traditional societies, religious practices and customs of a
myriad of indigenous communities. In the consideration of whether the minds of indigenous peoples
were colonised in conjunction with the domination of their land, it is prudent to remember and
fully consider the accepted anthropological definition of indigenous; self governing, ethnically
homogenous, sedentary groups with collective ownership of land. As the power of colonialism,
orientalism and imperialism grew in the second half of the second millennium, the cultural integrity
and independence of indigenous peoples globally decreased at an alarming rate. Colonial
overlordship has resulted in assimilation and syncretism in the realms of social cultureand religious
practice worldwide, creating new and unique, hybridised communities in colonised areas. These
cultures are created through a sequence of cultural erosion as described by Olivia Harris; starting
with syncretism, continuing to colonisation, colonisation with active borrowing, alternation
between two ways of knowing, assimilation, resulting in innovation and creativity of a new way.
The goals of colonisation were time and time

How Technology Affects the Business Environment
During the last century, the world has been through a technological revolution. We have in few
years moved from being a world where it could take months to receive a message, to being a world
where it takes microseconds. Within most industries, technology is a very important factor to
succeed. Especially in certain industries, like energy, transport and financial services, technological
innovations have been vital to make those industries develop into what they are today. Companies
are always struggling to acquire better technology, so that they in a more efficient way can produce
their products or carry out their services. It is therefore important for companies to keep an eye on
new technological innovations. The technological elements... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An article made by naturalgas states that new innovations have reshaped the industry into a
technological leader9. A report made by the U.S. Department of energy in 1999 shows that if
technology had stagnated in 1985, America would have needed twice as many wells to produce
the same amount of oil and gas. However, because of technological improvement, we only need
half as many wells to produce the same amount in 1999. In 1999, the America used 22 000 less
wells to produce the same amount as they did in 1985.
A statistical review of world energy made by BP illustrates how much oil and natural gas that
has been produced in each country and worldwide from 1965 2010. Worldwide, the total
development of oil has increased from 31,806,000 barrels daily in 1965, to 82,095,000 barrels
daily in 2010. The development of oil has increased from 96,9 billion cubic feet daily in 1970, to
309 billion cubic feet daily in 2010. The main reason to the increase in production is off course
the growing demand, but according to naturalgas it would have been impossible without the
improvement in our technology. Consumption of oil increased from 30,783,000 daily in 1965 to
87,382,000 barrels daily in 2010 and consumption of gas increased from 63 billion cubic feet daily
in 1965 to 306,6 billion cubic feet daily in 2010.
Another industry that has developed because of new technology is the nuclear industry. Numbers

Use Of Paradox In Macbeth
Paradoxes In Macbeth
Shakespeare, the English poet, is well known for the use of paradox in his books. One of the most
famous stories of Shakespeare, Macbeth, also demonstrated paradoxes in its story to illustrate the
theme, the differences between reality and appearance that are shown in the characters.
One quote that relates to the main theme that was found in Macbeth states, What he hath lost,
noble Macbeth hath won (1.2.77). In the beginning, the Thane of Cawdor, a title in the Peerage of
Scotland, was sentenced to death for his betrayal to King Duncan. Meanwhile, Macbeth, the King
s army general, has completed magnificent work in the battle and he received the title of the
Thane of Cawdor for the appreciation by the King. Metaphorically and literally, the former Thane
of Cawdor lost his life and his title. Unlike him, Macbeth has won by gaining the title and fame.
Although the appearance might seem like positive news for Macbeth, in reality, it opened his eyes
to do immoral actions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Basel III is a global comprehensive collection of restructured regulatory standards on bank capital

strengthen the regulation, supervision and risk management of the banking sector (bis.org, 2010).
It introduces new regulatory requirements on bankliquidity and bank leverage in response to the
financial downturn caused by the Global Financial Crisis. Stefan Walter, Secretary General of the
Basel Committee on banking supervision said in November 2010:
There are many factors that led to the build up of the crisis. At the top of the list is excess liquidity,

3. Supplementing the risk based capital requirement with a leverage ratio
One of the primary feature of the Global Financial Crisis, as well as other previous financial
crises, was the build up of excessive on and off balance sheet leverage in the banking system.
The force on the banking system to reduce its leverage caused a forced decline on asset prices
worsening the feedback between looses, deterioration in bank capital and the reduction of credit
availability. The framework introduced a leverage ratio requirement, fixed at 3% (actuaries.asn.au,
2011), which aims to constrain leverage in the banking sector, and introduce additional protection
against model risk and measurement error. This will help alleviate the risk of the deleveraging
processes, which can damage the financial system (bis.org, 2010). The introduced leverage ratio
will be a reliable extra measure to the risk based requirement.
4. Reducing procyclicality and promoting countercyclical buffers Procyclical amplification has
been one of the most threatening elements that caused financial shocks throughout the banking
system, financial markets and the economy during the Global Financial Crisis (bis.org, 2010). The
Committee introduced a number of measures which focus on procyclicality and increase the
resistance of the banking sector. These measures will help ensure that the banking sector absorbs
shocks instead of transmitting them to the financial system and the economy. One

Essay On The Impact Of Technology On World War 1
The effect of weapon technology had a big impact on World War One. World World I was the most
important turning point of the 20th century. It destroyed most of Europe and destroyed four
empires while also creating many new nations. It triggered the Russian Revolution and set the bases
for Balkan Middle Eastern conflicts that remain unresolved. World War Iwas the war fought mainly

Able carry greater bomb loads over far longer distances than early aeroplanes, they were soon
employed by the Germans to carry the war to Britain itself. Most aggressive nations used airships
mainly for exploration and observation missions, but today it is the attack of the German
Zeppelins that are best remembered. In the days leading up to World War I, when aeroplane flight
had been possible for only 10 years, there existed a large body of opinion that the future of military
flying lay as much with lighter aircraft.
The career of Peter Strasser parallels the story of the German airship service. Promoted Leader of

mastered the Zeppelin threat, but as Germany s defeat loomed near in August 1918 Strasser led

To prosecute a war on such a scale meant, for the British in particular, continuous and guaranteed

possible also to effectively deny the sea to the enemy. Close blockade, as practiced during the early

The hero we all wish we could be
The hero we all wish we could be. In the late eighteen hundreds the roles of genders were
specific. Men were to work and provide for his family. While woman were to stay home and care

gender role by leaving her husband and children behind in search for her own happiness. While

Torvald also calls Nora various pet names such as, my squirrel and my little skylark . This really
dehumanizes Nora and further reinforces Torvalds power. The symbol of money is a
continuous struggle throughout Torvald and Nora s marriage. Torvald belittles Nora for
spending money the way that she does. Torvald calls Nora a spendthrift and says that she is very
foolish with money. Torvald claims that Nora s lack of responsibility with money is due to being
a woman. Torvald gives Nora money to pay back a potter that they owed money to. And money to
buy Christmas gifts for the children. When Nora returns and shows Torvald the things that she
bought and tells him how much she paid the potter back. Torvald says Nora, Nora, how like a

Due to this constant criticism and belittlement is shown by Torvald towards Nora over money
throughout the play. Under the control of Torvald now and her father originally, a man has always

only examined the effect of surround suppression on only one type of feature, such as motion
direction or speed, and have not investigated feature based surround suppression with feature

Another study by Curran and Benton shows that as the speed of the distractor increases, there is an
increase in the magnitude of motion repulsion. Curran and Benton concluded that the reduction in
magnitude of higher distractor speeds are due to at least 2 factors; reduced apparent contrast of high
speed distractors, and whether distractor and target motions are accessed by the same or different
global motion channels. Therefore, there is a linear relationship between the distractor speed and
target motion in slow speeds. This suggest that as the speed difference between the two surfaces
increases, there would be an increase in the magnitude of motion repulsion. Our method for
investigating the effects of motion direction in conjunction with speed on motion repulsion
includes measuring seeped at 5 to 7 different rates and measuring motion with 2 conditions (similar

The business across the line is associated with awful risks, for it is not regulated by any legal
contract. The trade bereft of the very foundational elements like communication and the financial
intermediation, renders it as a blind gamble . Despite the fact that the state s economy would be
buttressed by this trading activity to a considerable extent, authorities have turned a blind eye
towards it.
With the prime intention of the study to look for the anomalies involved in Cross LoC trade, the
traders from both the TFCs were reached out so as to acquire concrete information on some of the
pressing issues. A purposive sample of 45 respondents was chosen, 20 from TFC Uri, Baramulla

Memento the Movie Essay
In the film Memento, written by director Christopher Nolan, the main character Leonard Shelby, is
a confused and damaged man that wants the revenge for the murder of his wife. We can say that
Lenny lives in his own world uniquely different from everyone else. The reason for this is his
inability to store short termmemoryand convert into long term memory. This disability renders
Lenny s life into a repeatable lifestyle and has to start from scratch about every 15 minutes. The
only source he has is to go back to is his notes and tattoos he discovers every morning on his body.
It seems as though he only has his past memories but the only memories we learn about in the
movie is about Sammy Jenkins and the murder of his wife. I think that... Show more content on

Since they fill up his mind with many lies, his whole world is a big lie.
The things that Lenny knows about his world is the kind of certainties that people take for
granted, like objects that your memory recognized right away. In this quote, Lenny decribes
how his memory plays a big role on how he knows some objects and how we take that for
granted. Leonard Shelby: I know what that s going to sound like when I knock on it. I know that
s what going to feel like when I pick it up. See? Certainties. It s the kind of memory that you take
for granted. He also does know everything thing that happened with his wife. He flashes back in a
few segments and replays everything that happened when his wife dies. Lenny remembers past
memories about his world like it happened yesterday. He remembers Sammy Jenkis with his
condition and can t seem to forget him. I found a good quote that Lenny says. It describes his
own world and how he feels about it. Leonard Shelby: I have to believe in a world outside my
own mind. I have to believe that my actions still have meaning, even if I can t remember them. I
have to believe that when my eyes are closed, the world s still there. Do I believe the world s still
there? Is it still out there?... Yeah. We all need mirrors to remind ourselves who we are. I m no

Taking a Look at DHL
DHL was first found by Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn in 1969 in San
Francisco. The name DHL these three initials actually stands for their last name. At first, the
company founders personally transported cargo documents from San Francisco to Honolulu by
plane thereby it significantly reduced waiting times in the harbor. Customers saved a great deal
of time as a result. The founding of DHL also represented the creation of a new sector of
industry: international air express service rapid transport of documents and cargo papers by
plane. The company started their expansion in 70 s, it started from Philippines (1971) then japan,
Hongkong, Singapore and Australia (1972) and later in Europe (1974), Latin America (1977), the
Middle east and Africa (1978). It added its parcel delivery in 1979. Between 1985 and 1988 DHL
doubles its customer base to more than half a million and quadruples the number of shipments it
handles. It s also the first express delivery company to anticipate the demand for total logistics
solutions.
Deutsche Post started acquiring share in 1998, in 2001 it had its majority of share and in 2002 it
completed purchased. The Deutsche Bundespost was the federal German government postal
service created in 1947 as a successor to the Reichspost. Deutsche Bundespost was one of the most
modern mail transport networks in the world from 1998. After purchasing DHL, it became

The Jedi Path
The personal and communal nature of spirituality is nowhere so clear as it is with the Jedi
Community. I assert that the promotion of the Jedi Path (as an authentic spiritual orientation) is
best maintained by the Perennial Philosophy. In the performance of ritual at the Temple such as
birthdays, invocations, tokens of offering, etc., etc. are all designed to promote a higher
spirituality, authentic in form and grounded in science/philosophy. In addition, I explore how
(daily) rituals at (both at the Temple and at home) imply/strengthen/reinforce the particular moral
agenda of the Jedi/ Code and their Code. In the observation of such an ethical framework, served
as the basis for moral purification and the basis and rationale an individual s (Jedi) training as well
as for the general placement of the (Jedi Path) spirituality within society. As a moral beacon, the
Temple functions as a transforming influence beneficial to society as a whole, providing foundation
of the Jedi Path. In short, the communal and social understanding of ritual functions and
observances at the Temple is a major aspect of (perennial philosophy and ) the rationale for its
existence. Speaking on the aims spiritual/religious institutions, priestly... Show more content on

The Christian Science Movement
Recently, Pope Francis has modernized the Roman Catholic Church by urging followers to support
scientists in preserving our environment. Pope Francis has drawn parallels between the scientific
and Christian communities, who are witnessing the convergence of their distinct approaches to
reality in the shared goal of protecting our common home, threatened as it is by ecological collapse
and consequent increase of poverty and social exclusion (Pope Francis). As the contemporary world
faces new problems, like climate change, Roman Catholic Christianityhas supported the need for
science as a means to preserve the Earth and guard humanity.
As science developed, Protestant Christianity has been more harmonious with modernity and has

Christian Science was founded by Mary Baker Eddy when she was inexplicably cured of her
nervous disorders while reading a biblical account where Jesus performs a miracle to heal the
sick. Eddy had seen many doctors for her nervous disorders, but none could cure her. In 1975 she
published Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, where she defined her own Science
which rejected modern science. She discounts facts from natural science as they represent a
kingdom necessarily divided against itself, because these definitions portray law as physical, not
spiritual (Eddy 118). Since natural science is only concerned with what can be physically
observed, she says the field is irrelevant due to its ignorance of spiritual law. Eddy creates her own
form of Science, which is purely spiritual. In differentiating between Christian Science and natural
science she admits the two differ but are equally scientific since her Science is based on Truth, the
Principle of all science (Eddy 124). In forming her movement Eddy rejected the need for science
and modern medicine, arguing that by praying correctly any illness can be healed. The Christian
Science has not been particularly successful in adapting to modern science, however, the movement
has gained a large following. Christian Science has gained public attention for its complete rejection
modern medicine but has differed significantly from other Christian in their reaction to

Acute Renal Failure Of The Urinary System

Acute Renal Failure
Although the function of the urinary system is used to filter and eliminate waste from the body, it
also contributes with maintenance of homeostasis of water and blood pressure, regulates
electrolytes, pH balance, and activates vitamin D. The urinary system consists of 2 kidneys which
extract wastes from the blood, balance body fluid, and converts it into urine. It also includes 2
ureters which conduct urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder via peristalsis, a urinary
bladder which serves as a reservoir for urine and finally a urethra which conducts urine from the
bladder to the outside of the body for elimination. The ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra together
form the urinary tract, which acts as a plumbing system to drain urine from the kidneys, store it,
and then release it during urination (Taylor, 1999).
As simple as this urinary system may sound there are also complication such as acute renal failure
or acute kidney failure, this occurs when the kidneys suddenly are unable to filter waste products
from the blood. When kidneys lose their filtering ability, dangerous levels of wastes may
accumulate and the blood s chemical makeup may get out of balance (mayo clinic, 1998). Acute
renal failure is categories into three different stages prerenal, intrarenal, and postrenal.
Prerenal is the most common type of acute renal

ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE MANAGEMENT

Abstract
Resistance to change is always an obstacle for organisation when they try to implementing change.
But what is resistance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore one could argue that resistance to change is not a response or action that aims directly at
change but rather a failure of building a relationship between the management team and the team
members of the organisation. Thus it is the management team responsible as well for the arising of
resistance to change as it is an active participation of the process.
A change is the process of changing the old way or usual way of doing thing and implements a new
way or different path of doing thing and thus change could create fear of the unknown for the
participants (Mintzberg Waters, 1985)6. In order to make change happen, it is important for both
parties, the change recipient and change agent to actively seeking information, feedback, goal and
objective of change. The key word here would be Communication . By being honest to the recipient,
letting them known of the expectation from the change and the beneficial likeliness that change
would bring to personal gain and to the organisation, this would encourage the participant to adopt
change process (Kim Rousseau, 2006)7.
Is cultural difference a source of resistance to change?
Researchers have proved that there is a strong correlation between change success rate and cultural
values/ belief (Kotter, 19958; Schein, 19929). The concept of organisational change is very closely
linked with the culture context (Schein, 1992)10. Even though there is no hard evidence

Examples Of Power In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby
The high class tends to be blinded and senseless to the multiple privileges given to them by their
wealth ultimately losing their chance to achieve something greater. The novel The Great Gatsby,
by F. Scott Fitzgerald proves how reckless the bourgeois, influence their power over the
proletariats showcasing the status quo in society at that time. The power gained by wealth and
status changed the thoughts and images people have on each other. This kind of society
welcomes classism, the struggle for a person of a lower class to reach a higher standard due to
prejudice. Gatsby being born poor tries to gain wealth to open his chances to see and be with
Daisy, this devotion causes his death, and him realizing that he was never ... Show more content on

James Gatz being born poor with unsuccessful parents had always dreamt of being rich, creating a
persona to fit the ambitions he wished to reach. This persona, Jay Gatsby is everything Gatsby
wanted to be, a wealthy, unbound, and powerful person. He never really accepted his parents
believing they were shiftless and unsuccessful farm people, and that his imagination never really
accepted them. (Fitzgerald 95) Gatsby rejects the classism in society and uses his persona as a
drive to change his life to something more fulfilling, and a place where he can be together with
Daisy. This wealth Gatsby desperately wants leads him to his own demise, losing any other
ambitions he had, only focusing on his desire for Daisy. The moment Gatsby remembers of
Daisy is when she vanished into her rich house, into her rich, full life... leaving Gatsby
overwhelmingly aware of the youth and mystery, that Daisy proud above the hot struggle of the
poor (Fitzgerald 142) The senseless that comes with money is shown how Gatsby once gaining
the wealth loses his mind into Daisy, making the second premise more evident in Gatsby as his
desire not be alone drives him to the stage to attempt to take Daisy away from Tom. Nevertheless
classism in society at that time played a big role in Daisy s choice to be with Tom, as he truly is
rich and has a secure wealth, unlike Gatsby born poor, and not truly rich, with an unsecure income.
Overall Gatsby wasted all this time and money into getting Daisy back, following his desires which
soon lead him to his death rather than choosing to use his money to do something else he imagined

Taking a Look at Photosynthetic Pigments
Photosynthetic pigments
Introduction
Some animals and most plants use photosynthesis to convert light energy into chemical energy. The
energy that is created can be stored and is accessed later on by consumers. The consumers of the
organisms break bonds while digesting the plant material and the stored energy is released into their
perspective systems. The entire process of photosynthesis can be summarized as carbon dioxide and
water reacting with light to create sugar, water and oxygen. Although put deceivingly simple terms,
the process of photosynthesis energy conversion can be broken into two different reaction
pathways, a light independent reaction and a light dependent reaction. In the light independent
reaction, the energy stored by the plant as ATP and NADPH is used to fixate carbon dioxide and
create sugar. Inversely, the light dependent reactions use the absorption of light to produce ATP and
high energy electrons that are stored. The absorbing molecules found within the plant are referred
to as pigments and each one absorbs different wavelengths. For example, chlorophyll absorbs red
and blue light while other pigments absorb all other wavelengths of light that are left over. The
other pigments found in plants fall into a group called carotenoids. Within the carotenoid group, the
wavelengths for violet and blue light are absorbed. To understanding pigments in plants in relation
to light, Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and spectroscopy are used to test the

Homo Habilis Influence On Ancient Civilization
When we think about history, we often think of what we have come to know as history: the
ancient civilization of Greece and Egypt, the wars of kings and popes, and the discoveries that
changed the world. However, what about before all that? What about before the first permanent
agriculture developed? What about before society? What about before anyone was there to
record what was happening? Physical Anthropology answers those questions, as it relies on hard,
calculable evidence in the forms of DNA, morphology, and a whole slew of other hard facts. To
understand prehistory, we first must understand the ones who came before us. But who are we?
Homo sapiens yes, but who are our ancestors? While we are a descendant of many, one ancestor of

Their height averaged from 3 feet 4 inches, to 4 feet 5 inches, based on the fossils that we have
found. Through this, we can see that Homo habilis was not nearly as similar to us as perhaps
Homo erectus, but was on the track to greater stature. Habilis also had the long arms needed for
living in arboreal environments, although they themselves did not live in forests, but retained the
evolutionary tools to do so. In that way, habilis resembled a more primate like being (Dorey.) It
also had slightly curved in fingers, indicative of knuckle dragging, or quadrupedalism. That being
said, habilis had a less prognathic face, meaning that its lower face was less protruding than its ape
cousins though it still stuck out slightly (smithsonian.) Aspects of habilis skeletal structure confirm
that it walked on two legs, including the fact that its hips are slightly turned in and its back is far
less curved than its predecessors. Additionally, its legs were relatively short to what we today
consider as being normal, perhaps another sign of their fairly recent transition from quadrupedals to

  • 2. Body Of Christ Paper In the Christian faith the Body of Christ symbolizes both Christ s physical body given for us and the Church as a whole. Christ died giving up His physical body in order for believers to have eternal life. Because Christ did so the group of people that believe Jesus died for their sin and have a personal relationship with Christ are referred to as the Body of Christ. By taking many science course, especially physiology, I know how important each part of the physical bodyis in order for the whole body to function properly. There is an analogy that can be drawn about how the Body of Christ as believer is similar the physical body in that it cannot function without all of the parts. Each individual brings a different piece to the Body of Christ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I personally feel fellow followers and I have unique gifts that help us contribute to the Body of Christ. In high school I felt that my part of the Church was to evangelize through my ability to run whether that be on the team or through putting on 5K races to raise money for Gods people. I still believe that God has blessed me this the ability to run well to glorify His kingdom. Now as a college student at Wheaton College my part of the Body seems to be a little different; I no longer stand alone in my faith in my classes, but I also I have fewer chances to speak to non believers. I feel currently that I my part of the Body of Christ is to learn and learn well, in order to contribute well in the future but also contribute as a student. This maybe through an internship, research, lab or simply class my current function is glorify God in all that I do. I also feel called to medicine, but this calling is backed up by characteristics that Gods has blessed me with. My top strengths include: empathy, responsibility, consistency, harmony, and developer; I found this out with the strengths finder test. I find that these characteristic along with caring for the well being of people will help me benefit God s people through health care. The Body of Christ is a symbol of the Church, like the body as I learned in Physiology the body does not function well if all the parts are not working ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Flaws Of Democracy In regard to Natasha and Graham s point, while oligarchies have potential flaws there are also a number of issues with the democratic system. For starters, true democracy is not well suited for government because it requires an entire nation to vote and run a country while maintaining their normal lives. As a result, America and many other countries are actually Republics or representative democracies. However, even these systems of governmenthave many inherent flaws. For starters, for a democracyor even a representative democracy to work the votingelectorate must be informed accurately. This proves to be impossible in real society due to the mass of issues and the trouble with biased media. For example, the United States today functions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay About Canada Have Too Many Laws As we all know, there are a lot of laws in Canada. For example, the Foreign Investment Review Act , the Charter of Rights and Freedoms , the Aboriginal Law and so on, all belong to the Canadian laws.In my opinion, Canada has too many laws simply because of the lack of universality, the ignorant of the differences between the impact of law and morality, and also the limitations which existed in its laws. To tell the truth, firstly, I think Canadahas too many laws because of the lack of universality reflected by its laws.Nowadays, the society and also the quality of people are both developing rapidly day by day. However, from a deeper point of view, we could easily seek out the truth under the peaceful and harmonious surface of the modern ... • 5. Comparing Milner And Goodale s Theory Of D. F. The existence of two visual systems was first suggested by Schneider (1969), and later confirmed by Ungerleider and Mishkin (1982) who claimed pathways that transmit information from the primary visual cortex are components of two main streams: dorsal and ventral. From experiments on monkeys, they established their what versus where theory, which states that the dorsal stream is responsible for object localisation and the ventral stream is responsible for object identification. Their theory was only popular until the 1990s, when other researchers began to suggest it may be inadequate. Amongst those was Milner and Goodale (1995) who offered an alternative approach. They agreed that the ventral stream creates conscious representations of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A patient named D.F. suffered from this, and provided a great amount of support for Milner and Goodale s theory. Although her low level visual functions such as target detection and colour discrimination were normal, her ability to recognize familiar faces and common objects was impaired. Yet when shown real objects rather than drawings, D.F. could recognize them. However, upon further examination of this ability it was found that D.F. was using surface properties such as colour, rather than the outline of the shape to identify the object (Humphrey et al 1994). What confirmed Milner and Goodale s theory was that D.F. could grasp objects that she could not entirely perceive. Initial experiments by Milner et al (1991) highlighted this. In these D.F. was given a disc and had to perform either a perceptual orientation matching task or a visuomotor task. It was found that although she could not explain the orientation of the slot, her performance on the visuomotor task where she had to post the disc into the slot was typical. Milner and Goodale (1995) argued this was because D.F s ventral stream was severely impaired, and the visuomotor skills she still had were due to an intact dorsal stream. This dissociation found between perception and action only increased the idea that the ventral and dorsal stream are independently working ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Nacirema Summary And Analysis When I first enrolled in this class, I never thought I would get anything out of it besides the knowledge, which I found to be completely interesting. But now I can honestly say that this is probably one of the most useful classes I could have possibly taken in college. We live in times where people are very exclusive and frightened of what they do not know. It is in times like this when those who possess knowledge must do everything in their power to be as inclusive and accepting as possible. This class also showed me that we cannot categorize things as normal or not. Instead, we should look through the beholder eyes and try to empathize in full measure. To start, one article that really changed my perspective was the Nacirema one. When I first read it, I thought those people the author was referring to acted strangely. Even though the author got his point across in an exaggerated way, it really made me realize how unaware people can look when judging others for not doing normal things, when in reality, the things those people consider normal , may be strange for others. Furthermore, in class activities further expanded my knowledge and allowed our group to communicate our ideas freely. One particular example was from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of them explained how essential the work of anthropologists is. I do not think many people are willing to go to isolated places and learn a completely new culture, but anthropologists do so in many ways. For example, those who use the etic perspective are able to emerge in a culture and become part of it. On the other hand, those who use the emic perspective, choose to be an observer and would rather do research from an outsiders standpoint. After learning about anthropologists and what they do, I realized that they are examples to follow because they constantly remind us that humans are capable of being open minded if we really want to, some people just choose not ... • 7. The Prayer Of A Public School Many people in Southern Missouri believe that we need to have more religion in schools. Keep Christ in Christmas, One nation under God, and post the Ten Commandments on every wall in public buildings. This is an easy rallying cry because most people in rural Southwest Missouri share the same Christian beliefs. There is a place for these types of soapboxes. That place is called church. Schools are designed to prepare students for the college and career. Churches are designed to prepare congregations for the after life. As the law mandates, each organization is separate and each plays a vital role in the betterment of our communities. In order to address religious celebrations in schools, one must address how religionshould be handled in the day to day educational operation of a public school. The First Amendment Center provides a great guide and tips on How to Handle Religious Holidays in Public Schools. The article reminds educators that schools may not promote any religion, but may teach about religion. As an English teacher one cannot have their class read The Crucible without educating their students on the Puritan faith. Most freshmen in Missouri read Romeo and Juliet. To understand the true motivations of the Juliet the reader must have a basic understanding of Catholicism. The same idea is true in Social Studies. Educators cannot ignore religion, they just cannot promote it. Students in rural Southwest Missouri have not experienced the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He wants to throw everyone s attention that catholic churches in South America are not in a good path. And priests want to make people their slaves. • 12. Bad Relationships In Someone Like You Causes of Bad Relationship A bad relationship may develop without your notice. In the film Someone Like You , the most obvious example is the relationship between Ray and Jane. The breakdown is not a sudden effect, but a gradual development. It all starts with the imbalance of giving. According to Cher Carter Scott, dangers arises when one person gives too little in a relationship. In the movie, Jane invests everything, including her heart, body (sex) and future life (cohabitation). However, Ray is the opposite. All he can give is the short term excitement and passion. As Robert Solomon suggested, their desire mismatch leads to coordination problem. Their love at first sight relationship also lacks a strong foundation to overcome challenges. Applying Robert Sternberg s triangular theory of love, Ray and Jane s form of love is Romantic Love (intimacy + passion). In their first meeting, they feel attracted to one another. Eventually intimacy grows and they start dating. The process is filled with passion. However, Ray is not ready for commitment. He never has a clear cut with Diane. Jane feels unsafe and uncertain as the triangular relationship continues. The bond between Ray and Jane gets weaker day by day, such that any quarrels can break it easily. The key to further worsen the relationship is poor communication. Taking the case of cohabitation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Romans were replaced by Anglo Saxon foes, and these did leave behind a system of castles however these were for Motte and Bailey castles built in the reign of Edward the confessor. The Norman invasion of 1066 was one of the causes for castles to become an important part of defence. After king Harold s defeat by William the conqueror, William was concerned about how he would control the country with only a limited number of troops facing a hostile environment. He did not have enough troops to station them everywhere, so he used a very useful tactic that had worked in Normandy previously. This was a simplified castle known as a ... The pathways and ladders that allowed reach to important areas of the castle have been removed or destroyed; and the enemy are at a disadvantage because they are facing attack from a raised level. As time progressed, the situation in England changed. The Normans were now in control of England and there was little resistance from hostile sources, therefore a concentration on the development of castles occurred. Less time was needed for castles to be constructed quickly and therefore time could be used to search for better materials for building. This meant that stone could be used instead of wood, which was used previously. By 1100, the earth that had held Motte and bailey castles had now settles, and was capable of sustaining much larger weights. With the change to stone castles, fire was not a concern as it was when Motte and baileys were in use. Square keeps were used when the development of stone castles were quite young. They were often built in the most important places, to show how powerful the Normans were. Square keeps were good because of the immense thickness of the walls. The walls in square keeps were often up to 5 metres thick, and 30 metres high. This added to the strength of the castle because the walls could easily withstand attacks from siege weapons such as magonels and trebuchets. Text Box: Because of the ... This quote by Keri Russell perfectly explains the importance of choosing the right college. For many, college is a pivotal step in their growth into an adult. Comparing colleges can often prove to be difficult and overwhelming. Although very close in location the universityof Kansas (KU) is very different than the university of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC). The university of Kanas is a much better school than the university of Missouri, Kansas City because of its superior campus style, welcoming community feeling, and large range of majors and activities. One great thing about the university of Kansas is the large campus style. KU has a campus size of over 1,000 acres and 130 separate buildings on campus. Reptiles are the descendants of creatures in the Paleozoic period called, Labrynthodonts. One of the earliest reptiles that resembles the snake is the, Eophis, an eight inch long snake that lived in England (Guillette Jr. 1993). The Eophis was very different compared to modern snakes, Eophis had four legs and is believed to have been living near water. The limbs are what enabled Eophis to move rapidly in water (Guillette Jr., 1993). Around 100 million years ago the limbs in Eophis were loss and limbless snakes evolved (Guillette Jr., 1993). The fossil record of early snakes is very rare due to snakes consisting of many small and very fragile bones making them easily destroyed. Most of the species classified within Reptilia are oviparous. (Guillette Jr., 1993). Snakes are no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sure, it was only 4 hours, but the kids wore her out today as 4 and 5 year old and 6 months old can be a handful for anyone, especially a 16 year old. The agreement with her parents, in order to quit school to help her cousins, Angel and Mike, with their kids, was night school. Night school was sort of a highlight though, although she enjoyed being there it was quite different that home. I hear though, you can still get into trouble at night school, he said, his hazel eyes glistening. Wow, news sure does travel fast around here. Evidently, it s possible, they both chuckled. Yeah, you would know, Diane interrupted sarcastically, grabbing David s attention. • 21. The Lord Of The Covenant Essay Our greatest example for covenant keeping is the Lord himself: For your Maker is your husband the Lord Almighty is his name...The Lord will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit a wife who married young, only to be rejected, says your God. For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back. (Isaiah 54:5 6 New International Version 1984) Through the prophet, Isaiah, the Lord conveys to Israel the perseverance of the covenant between Israel and himself, despite Israel s violation of the covenant. The Lord promises restoration to himself through his compassion because of his love for Israel. Israel was painted as an adulteress in Hosea, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and many other scriptures due to her pursuit of other gods, yet, like Hosea and his prostitute bride, the Lord welcomes her back countless times because of his own faithfulness to the covenant (Patterson, 2008). The Lord has shown since ancient times his desire for the covenant bond of marriage to reflect his own relationship with his people. Now he shows this marriage covenant through Christ and the New Covenant. The people of God are broadened to include Gentiles through the Lord s covenant with Abraham (Galatians 3:6 9) and are all pledged in relationship with God through the blood covenant of Christ s sacrifice. When the covenant is entered, nothing can sever it, including our own actions (Romans 8:38 39). On this foundation, the Lord establishes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Impact Of The Emancipation Proclamation Although there were more than four million slaves living in the U.S. at this time, the Emancipation Proclamation did not formally free a single one of them. So that presents us with a couple of very interesting questions: first, why did Lincoln issue the proclamation if it had no practical effect? Second, why is the Emancipation Proclamation considered Lincoln s most important legacy if it didn t actually free anyone? Washington D.C., summer 1862. The Civil War had been going on for over a year, and it was not going well for Abraham Lincoln. 11 of the 15 southern states where slavery was legal had formed the Confederate States of America(CSA) and were waging a war to break free from the United States. Lincoln was determined that the nation was not going to fall apart on his watch. During the first year of the civil war, the Confederate Army had won the majority of important battles. When Lincoln became president, he had had no intention of abolishing slavery. Though he personally despised slavery and had won the presidency on an anti slavery platform, he would gladly have given up any chance of ending slavery in the South if it meant that the Confederate states would rejoin the United States. With no hope of bringing the South back into the United States by protecting slavery, Lincoln had a new dilemma. His own political party, the Republicans, had formed around their opposition to slavery. Many of the more radical politicians in the party saw the secession of the South as the best opportunity to abolish slavery once and for all. As the US war dead piled up, more and more Northerners began to push Lincoln to punish the states that had seceded by making abolition a major goal of the war. The problem with abolishing slavery, however, was that there were still four slave states that had not seceded from the United States: Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland, and Delaware. Lincoln feared that if he advocated emancipation he would provoke those states into joining the Confederacy, making the war even more difficult to win. Of the border states, Maryland was particularly worrisome, because the US capital at Washington D.C. sat on its border with Virginia. If Maryland decided to join the Confederacy, Washington D.C. ... I thought it was only me and everyone else had it easy and completely understood everything that was happening to their bodies and minds. In fact, I still have dreams about my middle school years like forgetting my locker combination or hiding in the bathroom stall because the most popular girls were gossiping about a friend of yours. The settings in these dreams are always my middle school; I find it amazing that thirty years after I attended school that I can remember vivid details about the layout, hallways, lockers, and teachers. The reason for this I believe is that for ALL students the middle school years are the most influential to shaping and becoming who a person is and who they wish to become. Middle schools are essential for the success of students because of the unique developmental stages of these students. For teachers, comprehension of young adolescent development is key to understanding the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and moral needs and interests of these students (Powell, 2015, p. 55) and also teachers need to develop a curriculum that is focused on developing students competence in all subject matter and using their knowledge and available resources to design, implement, and evaluate challenging, responsive curriculums that result in meaningful learning outcomes (Powell, 2015, p. 145). During the counselling session, the client speaks about his or her inner emotions, thoughts and feelings (Corey G, 1995). Counsellors play various roles and use various styles, but what they have in common is an intention to let the client speak more, while they speak less and listen more. Companies are faced with a lot of pressure from shareholders to provide new blockbuster therapies that will net those investors large profits. The fear of some researchers is that industry will not be open with the results of their genome research, sequestering away nucleic acid sequences in private databases, or tying up huge amounts of information in pending patents. This goes against the original aim of the project which was to place all information gathered in free, publicly accessible databases. Recent developments in the Human Genome Project only heightened these fears. Colonialism And Colonisation The colonisation and subjugation of the minds of indigenous peoples was an integral part in the successful domination of nationstates by global powers such as the United Kingdom. Colonialism, the policy of ruling other territories for ones own benefit, normally by force, dominated the worlds stage for hundreds of years, ravaging the traditional societies, religious practices and customs of a myriad of indigenous communities. In the consideration of whether the minds of indigenous peoples were colonised in conjunction with the domination of their land, it is prudent to remember and fully consider the accepted anthropological definition of indigenous; self governing, ethnically homogenous, sedentary groups with collective ownership of land. As the power of colonialism, orientalism and imperialism grew in the second half of the second millennium, the cultural integrity and independence of indigenous peoples globally decreased at an alarming rate. Colonial overlordship has resulted in assimilation and syncretism in the realms of social cultureand religious practice worldwide, creating new and unique, hybridised communities in colonised areas. These cultures are created through a sequence of cultural erosion as described by Olivia Harris; starting with syncretism, continuing to colonisation, colonisation with active borrowing, alternation between two ways of knowing, assimilation, resulting in innovation and creativity of a new way. Supplementing the risk based capital requirement with a leverage ratio One of the primary feature of the Global Financial Crisis, as well as other previous financial crises, was the build up of excessive on and off balance sheet leverage in the banking system. The force on the banking system to reduce its leverage caused a forced decline on asset prices worsening the feedback between looses, deterioration in bank capital and the reduction of credit availability. The framework introduced a leverage ratio requirement, fixed at 3% (actuaries.asn.au, 2011), which aims to constrain leverage in the banking sector, and introduce additional protection against model risk and measurement error. • 37. Feature-Based Surround Impression Report Now what we are interested in feature based surround suppression domain is the how direction and speed interact with each other. As Daniel mentioned, paying attention to a certain feature suppresses other nearby features. Studies done on featured based surround suppression, up to this point, have only examined the effect of surround suppression on only one type of feature, such as motion direction or speed, and have not investigated feature based surround suppression with feature conjunction. Therefore, we are interested to find out how feature based surround suppression profile would change when the two features are combined by using motion repulsion as a mean to measure the effects. We know, with small directional differences, there is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another study by Curran and Benton shows that as the speed of the distractor increases, there is an increase in the magnitude of motion repulsion. Curran and Benton concluded that the reduction in magnitude of higher distractor speeds are due to at least 2 factors; reduced apparent contrast of high speed distractors, and whether distractor and target motions are accessed by the same or different global motion channels. Therefore, there is a linear relationship between the distractor speed and target motion in slow speeds. This suggest that as the speed difference between the two surfaces increases, there would be an increase in the magnitude of motion repulsion. Our method for investigating the effects of motion direction in conjunction with speed on motion repulsion includes measuring seeped at 5 to 7 different rates and measuring motion with 2 conditions (similar vs. dissimilar) under attended and unattended conditions. For the unattended condition, the participant fixate on a cross and then 2 surfaces appear (green and red) moving in different directions for 2 seconds and they ignore the directional ... The teacher made sure the children had good health and nutrition. The educator made the kids wash their hands before eating snacks. They had to sing their ABC s while do it, so they would wash their hands long enough. Each childparticipated in a physical activity while in the open area, called the bicycle room. The children were taking turns riding the bicycles. That presented the teacher made sure the kids were healthy and physical. While I was observing I had a slight cold, but the children did not. It amazed me that out of all the children who was there, not one kid was sick. For lunch the children had oranges, pizza, and chocolate milk. In 1975 she published Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, where she defined her own Science which rejected modern science. She discounts facts from natural science as they represent a kingdom necessarily divided against itself, because these definitions portray law as physical, not spiritual (Eddy 118). Since natural science is only concerned with what can be physically observed, she says the field is irrelevant due to its ignorance of spiritual law. Eddy creates her own form of Science, which is purely spiritual. In differentiating between Christian Science and natural science she admits the two differ but are equally scientific since her Science is based on Truth, the Principle of all science (Eddy 124). In forming her movement Eddy rejected the need for science and modern medicine, arguing that by praying correctly any illness can be healed. • 45. Acute Renal Failure Of The Urinary System Diana Galeana MED 2049 Acute Renal Failure Instructor Michelle Earxsion Lamothe 7/25/2014 Acute Renal Failure Although the function of the urinary system is used to filter and eliminate waste from the body, it also contributes with maintenance of homeostasis of water and blood pressure, regulates electrolytes, pH balance, and activates vitamin D. The urinary system consists of 2 kidneys which extract wastes from the blood, balance body fluid, and converts it into urine. It also includes 2 ureters which conduct urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder via peristalsis, a urinary bladder which serves as a reservoir for urine and finally a urethra which conducts urine from the bladder to the outside of the body for elimination. The ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra together form the urinary tract, which acts as a plumbing system to drain urine from the kidneys, store it, and then release it during urination (Taylor, 1999). As simple as this urinary system may sound there are also complication such as acute renal failure or acute kidney failure, this occurs when the kidneys suddenly are unable to filter waste products from the blood. When kidneys lose their filtering ability, dangerous levels of wastes may accumulate and the blood s chemical makeup may get out of balance (mayo clinic, 1998). Acute renal failure is categories into three different stages prerenal, intrarenal, and postrenal. Prerenal is the most common type of acute renal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But what is resistance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore one could argue that resistance to change is not a response or action that aims directly at change but rather a failure of building a relationship between the management team and the team members of the organisation. Thus it is the management team responsible as well for the arising of resistance to change as it is an active participation of the process. A change is the process of changing the old way or usual way of doing thing and implements a new way or different path of doing thing and thus change could create fear of the unknown for the participants (Mintzberg Waters, 1985)6. In order to make change happen, it is important for both parties, the change recipient and change agent to actively seeking information, feedback, goal and objective of change. The key word here would be Communication . By being honest to the recipient, letting them known of the expectation from the change and the beneficial likeliness that change would bring to personal gain and to the organisation, this would encourage the participant to adopt change process (Kim Rousseau, 2006)7. Is cultural difference a source of resistance to change? Researchers have proved that there is a strong correlation between change success rate and cultural values/ belief (Kotter, 19958; Schein, 19929). The concept of organisational change is very closely linked with the culture context (Schein, 1992)10. Even though there is no hard evidence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Taking a Look at Photosynthetic Pigments Photosynthetic pigments Introduction Some animals and most plants use photosynthesis to convert light energy into chemical energy. The energy that is created can be stored and is accessed later on by consumers. The consumers of the organisms break bonds while digesting the plant material and the stored energy is released into their perspective systems. The entire process of photosynthesis can be summarized as carbon dioxide and water reacting with light to create sugar, water and oxygen. Although put deceivingly simple terms, the process of photosynthesis energy conversion can be broken into two different reaction pathways, a light independent reaction and a light dependent reaction. In the light independent reaction, the energy stored by the plant as ATP and NADPH is used to fixate carbon dioxide and create sugar. Inversely, the light dependent reactions use the absorption of light to produce ATP and high energy electrons that are stored. The absorbing molecules found within the plant are referred to as pigments and each one absorbs different wavelengths. For example, chlorophyll absorbs red and blue light while other pigments absorb all other wavelengths of light that are left over. The other pigments found in plants fall into a group called carotenoids. Within the carotenoid group, the wavelengths for violet and blue light are absorbed. To understanding pigments in plants in relation to light, Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and spectroscopy are used to test the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In that way, habilis resembled a more primate like being (Dorey.) It also had slightly curved in fingers, indicative of knuckle dragging, or quadrupedalism. That being said, habilis had a less prognathic face, meaning that its lower face was less protruding than its ape cousins though it still stuck out slightly (smithsonian.) Aspects of habilis skeletal structure confirm that it walked on two legs, including the fact that its hips are slightly turned in and its back is far less curved than its predecessors.
