At SJSU, we've combined Salesforce and storification to revolutionize our Intro to Business Systems course. Now all Business students get "under the hood" with technology so that they will be able to leverage it innovatively and excel in their jobs, whether in HR, Marketing, Accounting or whatever. These non-tech students can build mobile and web-based apps declaratively with zero coding using free Saleforce accounts. And we developed a set of unique "storified" labs exercises, told through a fictional blog, to engage our iGeneration students with good story-telling.

Five (5) of these reflection / discussion questions are required to be completed during the semester for a total of 50 points (10 points per question.) If you choose to complete more than 5 reflection questions, then the top five scores will be used for course grade calculation purposes. Responses should be provided directly in Compass and submitted on or before their due date. The intent of these questions is to enhance your learning of the textbook and lecture material. Students can expect similar questions and question types on exams. The length of reflection questions are typically one page in length (using 1.5 spacing.)

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Odoo provides an option for creating a module by using a single line command. By using this command the user can make a whole structure of a module. It is very easy for a beginner to make a module. There is no need to make each file manually. This slide will show how to create a module using the scaffold method.

Student Learning Impacts
Lab integration effects?
One instructor; 2 sections, one using labs, all else equal
“Light” exposure (homework only; no classroom integration)
Learning Objectives:
11 pre-existing general concept course LOs; none lab-related
Student self-rated mastery; 5 pt Likert scale
No significant differences but lab section higher of 10/11
Student Teaching Ratings (13 items, 5 pt Likert scale)
Prior semester - nearly identical; average diff = 0.02
Lab semester - lab section higher on 13/13; avg diff = .25
Significant at 0.5 for “analytical” & at .10 for two others
46. Student Impacts
Several students report “Salesforce” exposure made the difference
“I would like to thank you for incorporating Salesforce Labs into our course because it helped me
land a job at Palo Alto Networks. The labs gave me a competitive advantage over other
candidates who didn't have any experience using SF.”
47. Student Impacts
Several students report “Salesforce” exposure made the difference
“Just wanted to let you know that your Salesforce labs were extremely helpful in my interview
process. I definitely recommend having more people do these Salesforce labs because they are
so useful. I had a interview for a company for an associate consultant position, they assigned me
a case analysis where I had to use Salesforce. They wanted me to create customization for a
company that needed to track their customer and products. I made custom objects for a the
company and connect the relationships with each other, I used what I learned to help me
navigate better the system. Thank you!”
48. Student Impacts
Several students report “Salesforce” exposure made the difference
“I'm now an intern for a software company in the sales department. My department functions
almost entirely through Salesforce and while I was training and acclimating, I began making
many connections to the work we did in the labs.”
49. Student Impacts
Several students report “Salesforce” exposure made the difference
“One of my students from BUS188 Spring 2015 came up to me as I was walking home from
class today to let me know how much he appreciated the Salesforce Labs...He said it gave him
a leg up in his International Marketing class. YES!!!”
50. Student Impacts

Pragmatics
• Labs are mostly self-contained (homework or in-class in 1:15)
• Cover sheet for each lab: conceptual learning objectives, deliverables
• 100% PDF: students can print or view in a separate tab while working
• Students submit 2-4 screencaps/lab (name appears on all SF screens)
• Minimal support:
- Language tweaked/honed to minimize snags/mistakes
- Troubleshooting QuickRef for each lab with common snags & fixes
