Kendal A. Daiger is the director of marketing for Spruce Peak Realty in Stowe, Vermont and President of a boutique marketing firm, OneL Marketing. Prior to that, she was leading the sales and marketing at Black Butte Ranch in Sisters, Oregon, where she also served on the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce County Cooperative Marketing Committee, designed to provide insight into marketing opportunities to boost awareness for Sisters County.
Sisters Chamber of Commerce aims to promote various attractions that Sisters County has to offer to its visitors. Sisters County is a magical destination with the town of Sisters lying at the foothills of the Cascade mountain range. The small town is famous for its numerous festivals and exciting activities throughout the year. The annual Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show is the world’s largest quilt show held every second Saturday of July each year. The 2020 edition will take place on 11th July 2020 at Downtown Sisters.
The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show is a non-profit organization whose aim is to educate and inspire the public about the art of quilting to benefit schools, community groups, and entire Central Oregon. The show started after the founder, Jean Wells Keenan displayed a dozen quilts made by her students outside her quilt shop on a Saturday in July. Later, more ladies bought their quilts to the show and it eventually becomes an annual event hosted by the East of the Cascades quilt guild.

Learn to create meaningful messages for younger audiences without recreating the wheel.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

unprecedented need caused by COVID-19
Ways to come together:

advocating for them, and staying home.
• Give to the organizations that you love most – no
amount is too little and nonprofits need our support.
• Help out small businesses by buying gift cards or
writing an online review.
• Combat loneliness by reaching out to a neighbor,

Is *not* Mexican Independence Day (that’s September 16)
Is *not* celebrated in Mexico very much at all
Commemorates the Battle of Puebla won by Mexico against
the larger force of the invading French in 1862
Might have helped prevent the Confederacy from winning the
US Civil War
Latinos in California and Nevada celebrated both this victory
and the Union army soon after it took place
Parades carried the US and Mexican flags and singing both
national anthems (while Los Angeles had strong Confederate
sympathies)
Continued through the 1960’s in Los Angeles when it became
adopted by Mexican-American activists
Even until the 1980’s was little known outside Latino areas
All events this year being reimagined to be virtual, including Tableau conferences and World Tours

#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
Let’s come together to create a wave of generosity, citizen engagement, action from business and philanthropy, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.
Initial 11 families, “Los Pobladores,” 2/3 of whom were of Native American or African descent
Nearby Mission San Gabriel founded 1771 on land inhabited by the Tongva people, Mission & Presidio San Diego 1769
300,000 to 500,000 descendants from the Californios today in the state
Today’s LA Plaza Historic District is not the very first site of the pueblo as they had to move around due to the river flooding, present site 1818
Early on the Union wasn’t doing well, France wanted access to Southern cotton and was willing to trade weapons to get it
California was a free state but the Confederacy was marching West to Los Angeles and had gotten as far as Arizona near Tuscon
Meanwhile Mexico had abolished slavery years earlier in 1829
CA had a lot of confederate sympathizers, being the only free state to not ratify the 14th and 15th amendments until 1959 and 1962
(Unfortunately the French came back a year later and ultimately won and took over Mexico City in June 1863 not leaving until 1867 after the Civil War ended but the delay was significant for the US)
However we have this to thank for Negra Modelo, a Vienna style dark lager due to the fact that the French installed as ruler Maximilian from Austria who attracted German immigration
