This document summarizes a study conducted by California State University at Sacramento (Sac State) on the impact of student involvement in co-curricular activities on academic performance. The study found that students who served as club leaders achieved higher graduation and retention rates than their uninvolved peers. Sac State was able to easily collect student involvement data using OrgSync, which allowed them to expand the scope of their assessment and justify additional funding for student programs. The positive results of the study helped initiatives like the Leadership Initiative receive more support to aid non-traditional student success.
GAPSA will broaden its executive board representation and partner with CIL to provide leadership training. Currently, only half of UMN graduate schools are represented on GAPSA's executive board, but it plans to modify representation to include all member council presidents next fall. GAPSA will also collaborate with CIL to provide leadership workshops for members of each graduate council's executive board. This aims to transform GAPSA into a more representative group that can better voice student concerns while decentralizing power to individual councils.

Chinese symbols are logograms that have been used as a writing system in China for nearly 5,000 years. Each character resembles a picture and it must have taken a long time to develop this language. While Mandarin is the official language, there are many regional dialects spoken across China due to its ethnic diversity. People from different areas may not speak the same language but can still communicate through writing since there is only one official writing system across China using these logograms. Western culture is fascinated by Chinese symbols and likes to find the characters for words, names, and to use in tattoos as a way to express themselves culturally.
