ASDSO NE Regional 2011 Presentation
The Sally's Pond Dam in Ringwood, New Jersey was rehabilitated to address dam safety deficiencies while preserving its historical integrity. The dam was originally constructed in 1895 but had inadequate spillway capacity and was in poor condition. The rehabilitation included constructing a new RCC gravity dam upstream of the existing dam to meet current safety standards. Special care was taken to maintain historical features and comply with historic preservation standards during construction from 2007-2008, which was completed on schedule and under budget without any change orders.

The project enhanced and stabilized the degraded stream channel, bed and bank, provided water quality benefits and aesthetics, and prevented further erosion. The project includes in-stream structures, realignment of a portion of the channel, engineered regenerative mix to promote groundwater recharge, fiberglass pedestrian bridge, and the re-establishment of the riparian buffer with native species.
