5-ft high cofferdam 36” dia diversion pipe connected to existing outlet conduit
Dec 23-24, 2007 storm overtopped the cofferdam 500 cfs, 2-yr event 6” over spillway In response, the contractor raised the cofferdam to about top of dam and excavated a diversion channel on the left abutment
Jan – dewatered inundated area and repaired cofferdam Demo’d existing structure under observation of historical consultant
Artifacts – cip, and gate
Artifacts – marble, possible headstones
Feb - constructing the low level outlet March – switched diversion channel to right abutment Mar 19 storm breached the cofferdam through the diversion channel 600 cfs – 2 to 5-yr storm event End of March – switched diversion back to the left abutment and ‘switched” contractor PMs
2400 cy in about 3 weeks Complete by the end of april 2008
Anchor bar drilling, installation and Masonry reconstruction took about 2 months – May and June!!
