This document describes a new text messaging follow-up system called RU-OKAY for checking on patients after they are discharged from the emergency department. It allows providers to send text messages to patients at scheduled times to see if they have any questions or problems instead of randomly calling patients. The creator developed a texting app using Codementor help and Twilio as the middleware between patients and providers. Their goal is to have more beta testing of the app within their emergency department group to evaluate if text follow-ups better capture patient concerns compared to random phone calls.
