Caltech University is a nice institution with a beautiful campus. The faculty is large compared to the size of the undergraduate student body, leading to many opportunities to participate in research projects early in your career. Caltech is a four-year not-for-profit school. They have a bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree, a post master’s certificate, and a doctor’s degree. They offer campus housing and the student population is 2,233 with 948 being undergraduates. The student ratio is 3 to 1. Caltech's education is strong on theory. The school is well known for the selectivity of its admissions process. The endowment is large, and the financial support policy aims to ensure that no student who earns admission will be unable to attend for financial reasons. It's a wonderful environment for the right student, namely one more concerned with working hard and learning a lot than with building one's network and partying.
Caltech has the unique position of having small classes taught by a surplus of excellent researchers who are all leaders in their respective fields. High teaching loads do not burden professors because the undergraduate population is limited, all classes are small, and they only need to teach throughout their tenure occasionally — nothing like taking courses from motivated professors who are not burned out by the grind of repetitive teaching. If one is considering grad school, one can get a great head start at Caltech. They mostly offer Stem courses which include engineering mathematics, science etc.
Caltech is quite expensive, but almost everyone receives financial aid or grants to attend Caltech. Caltech is around $72,000 a year. For undergraduates, 60% receive financial aid while for graduate students as much as 99% do (you can pretty much assume that the 1% who do not receive it don’t need or want it). Caltech gives you a financial aid calculator with the admissions packet, so if you get in, you know at least what ballpark your tuition fees will be, though nothing is concrete until you get the official offer of financial aid from Caltech.

Coastal Carolina University offers graduate programs in four schools that are profitable investments for the university. With over 600 graduate students enrolled in 2014, Coastal brought in nearly $2 million in tuition that year. While revenue is important, graduate programs also enhance the academic community through increased intellectual discourse. Certain science programs may have higher costs but are offset by additional grants and contracts attracted by faculty research. Coastal aims to expand its graduate offerings and expects to generate millions more in tuition over the next four years.

This document provides a review of credit-based transition programs that allow high school students to take college courses and earn college credit. It discusses the rationales for using these programs to promote college access and success for a wide range of students, not just traditional high-achieving students. The key rationales discussed are: 1) exposing students earlier to rigorous college-level coursework to better prepare them, 2) providing realistic information about college skills and expectations, and 3) increasing motivation through high expectations. The document then categorizes different types of transition programs and reviews evidence on their effectiveness.
The Task Force on Graduate Student Funding at the College of Arts and Sciences issued a report with the following key points:
1) Graduate programs in the College face threats including stagnant stipends, declining enrollment, and fewer tenure-track faculty positions.
2) Data showed graduate stipends lag behind peers and costs of living, placing students in financial risk. Low stipends also hurt recruitment.
3) The report recommended a three-stage approach: 1) Cover rising student fees, 2) Increase stipends and tie them to inflation, and 3) Add more recruitment fellowships to improve graduate funding over time.

Provost Advisory Committee for Students Board of Regents RecommendationElizabeth Pring
The Provost Advisory Committee for Students (PACS) makes the following recommendations to the Board of Regents:
1) A 3% tuition increase for resident undergraduates and a 1% increase for non-residents to keep higher education accessible while raising necessary revenue.
2) A 2% salary increase for meritorious faculty and staff, recognizing their importance but noting increases should first be funded by the state, not students.
3) Maintaining and strengthening financial aid programs to ensure affordability, including for low-income, middle-class, and graduate students.

Today's the first day of courses at CWU, so I'm devoting this column to the quality of education on campus. You have no doubt heard of the statistic that the income of college graduates rapidly outpaces their less educated peers. It has led many wavering high school students to give college a try.
Lately, the value of a college degree has been called into question for students who struggle in high school, a significant percentage of our student body. For those who graduate in the bottom 40% of their high school class, the odds against them completing college are 2 to 1. Even if they graduate, most of them won't find employment that requires a college degree, and their employers will grumble about their basic skills, especially in oral and written communication. Colleges take their tuition money but leave these students with mortgage-sized debts and no future.
There is a value in institutions that have a generous admissions policy like CWUs. We offer less advanced students a second chance and many succeed with it. But they need help to overcome their lack of preparation and, more importantly, poor work habits. In both areas, we are failing them with low expectations.
This isn't just the opinion of a cranky professor; our students tell us this is so. The National Survey of Student Engagement polls freshman and seniors at most of America's colleges regarding their college experiences. Compared to our peer institutions, CWU students do less studying (the majority less than 10 hours per week!), campus activities, employment, and family responsibilities. What are they doing with all that spare time? The survey reports that CWU students excel at socializing, watching TV, playing video games, and partying. Our students aren't dropping out because they are over worked and can't hack it, and those who graduate enter the working world having spent more time on an Xbox than their studies.
Why don't they work harder? They don't need to. We have created a system that goes easy on students. There are many reasons for this, but today I'll discuss general education courses.
General education courses aim to provide a well-rounded education, but have become a way of mining students for scarce resources. In general education, students choose from a menu of classes in the sciences, humanities, and arts. While creating a marketplace of ideas sounds good, it encourages mediocrity when coupled with a student's inclination to find the easiest path to a degree. Departments make students, and administrators happy when they create large, easy courses with little grading. Students flock to these courses, and administrators reward departments with resources for their efficiency in filling seats.
Students are aided and abetted in their search for the easy A by staff advisors. The well-meaning staffers no doubt want to boost retention rates, but this has a corrosive effect on quality. ...
The Sixth Form College in Solihull was founded in 1974 and currently has 2,200 students taking A-Level and BTEC courses. Students are supported by a student council and staff who help with issues and organize enrichment activities. The college has modern facilities for different subjects including science labs, art rooms, and a library. Overall it provides a strong learning environment and continues to achieve high standards and student success.
The document discusses various scholarship opportunities from different colleges and universities in the United States. The document further discusses merit scholarships valued at $8,480-$34,800 over four years at Northern Illinois University and merit scholarships awarded based on academic strength and renewability at Augustana College. It concludes by announcing new programs at California International Business University, Drexel University, and Loy
This document summarizes a study that tested interventions to provide information to high-achieving, low-income students about selective college opportunities. The study randomly assigned over 39,000 students to receive different interventions or no treatment (the control group). The most comprehensive intervention (ECO-C) provided semi-customized information on colleges and application fee waivers. The study found that ECO-C caused students to apply and get admitted to more selective colleges with better outcomes. It also did not negatively impact students' freshman grades. The benefits of ECO-C far outweighed the low $6 per student costs, suggesting it could be an effective way to help more high-achieving, low-income students realize

In the 1960s, the film industry was divided between films appealing to families and those appealing to teenagers and young adults in the Baby Boomer generation. Films like musicals and war movies drove the adult market, while films about rebellion, sex, and non-conformist heroes drove the youth market. By the end of the decade, the tastes of counter-culture youth had come to dominate the screen with films about anti-war, flawed characters, and sexual issues.

Foreign Intelligence Entity (FIE) Threat Analysis
The CIA's Counterintelligence Center Analysis Group (CIC/AG) identifies, monitors, and analyzes the efforts of FIEs against US persons, activities, and interests. CIC/AG analysts focus on two specific types of counterintelligence threats to US national security:
1. Transnational threats, such as the counterintelligence aspect of terrorism or the threats posed by emerging or changing technologies to the US Government, intelligence operations, and US Government information systems; and
2. Threats posed by FIEs and their activities.

MigrationThe human population has lived a rural lifestyle thro.docxhealdkathaleen
Migration
The human population has lived a rural lifestyle through most of history. The world’s population, however, is quickly becoming urbanized as people migrate to the cities. Developed nations have a higher percentage of urban residents than less developed countries. However, urbanization is occurring rapidly in many less developed countries, and it is expected that most urban growth will occur in less developed countries during the next decades.
In this Case, you are to select a country (not Nigeria and Canada) which is experiencing rural-urban migration and answer the following questions.
1. Identify the Country you have selected and briefly describe its demographics.
2. Discuss the factors that are driving rural-urban migration in your selected country? (Hint: Migration is often explained in terms of either “push factors” – conditions in the place of origin which are perceived by migrants as detrimental to their well-being or economic security, and “pull factors” – the circumstances in new places that attract individuals to move there).
3. Describe the impact of rural-urban migration in your selected country? Consider health, environmental, economic and social implications.

Michael Dell began building and selling computers from his dorm room.docxhealdkathaleen
Michael Dell began building and selling computers from his dorm room at age 19. He dropped out of the University of Texas when his sales hit $60 million and has never looked back. Dell is said to be the fifteenth richest man in America, and the youngest CEO to make the Fortune 500. Intensely private and notoriously shy, Dell is hailed as a corporate wonder-kid. He climbed to the top by exploiting tax loopholes, outsourcing the competition, and inventing a term called “leveraged recapitalization.”
First, review the following case study:
Michael Dell—The man behind Dell: Leading Dell into the future
Then, address the following tasks:
Analyze Dell’s philosophy as it relates to the role of change in organizational success.
Determine how Dell’s philosophy would be perceived in a low performing culture.
Identify which performing culture best suits your philosophy regarding change management and provide your rationale.
Consider the way Dell started his company; determine what market conditions made the business possible.
Discuss Dell’s approach to building his brand.
Develop a 4–6-slide presentation in PowerPoint format, utilizing at least two scholarly sources (in addition to your textbook) to complete your research, ensuring you cite references within the text and at the end in a reference list. Apply APA standards to the citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.ppt.
Make sure you write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship through accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

offer campus housing and the student population is 2,233 with

who earns admission will be unable to attend for financial
reasons. It's a wonderful environment for the right student,
namely one more concerned with working hard and learning a
lot than with building one's network and partying.
Caltech has the unique position of having small classes taught
by a surplus of excellent researchers who are all leaders in their
respective fields. High teaching loads do not burden professors
because the undergraduate population is limited, all classes are
small, and they only need to teach throughout their tenure
occasionally — nothing like taking courses from motivated
professors who are not burned out by the grind of repetitive
teaching. If one is considering grad school, one can get a great
head start at Caltech. They mostly offer Stem courses which
include engineering mathematics, science etc.
Caltech is quite expensive, but almost everyone receives
financial aid or grants to attend Caltech. Caltech is around
$72,000 a year. For undergraduates, 60% receive financial aid
while for graduate students as much as 99% do (you can pretty
much assume that the 1% who do not receive it don’t need or
want it). Caltech gives you a financial aid calculator with the
admissions packet, so if you get in, you know at least what
ballpark your tuition fees will be, though nothing is concrete
until you get the official offer of financial aid from Caltech.

I chose to research Northern Illinois University (NIU). NIU is a

Engineering, Visual and Performing Arts, and several more.
The undergraduate student population is 17,169, with 12,788
students enrolled as undergraduates. Of that undergraduate
population, 53% are White, 19% Hispanic, 17% Black or
African American, 6% Asian, 4% Two or more races, and 2%
Non-resident alien.
The average annual price for an undergraduate student to attend
NIU is 22,686, which was shocking to see, as the price has gone
up significantly since my freshman year in 2009. There are
some special features learning opportunities such as the ROTC
program, Study abroad opportunities, and on-campus day care
for students’ children that may make all the difference in
someone’s decision to enroll at NIU. I think that most students
who attend this school do so for the convenient location and
affordability. The main campus is situated in a small suburban
town that is roughly an hour outside of the city of Chicago. This
gives students the opportunity to experience a quieter college
life but still allows them access to a wide variety of internship
and job opportunities in the city without having to endure too
lengthy of a commute.

Austyn Discussion:
The Pennsylvania State University, or Penn State, is a four-
year, public university, with the main campus, University Park,
found in central Pennsylvania. While it primarily offers
bachelor’s degrees, it also offers associate’s degrees,
certificates, master’s degrees, doctor’s degrees, and so on. The
institution also places a significant focus on research activity.
6. Its student body includes a total enrollment of 46,810 students
as of Fall 2018. These students are predominately white, 90%
of which are full-time students, and more than half are in-state
students.
The cost of tuition for in-state students for the 2018-
2019 school year was $18,454, making it one of the most
expensive public universities to attend in the country (Digg,
2019). Of the included information and features of the
university, that which surprised me was the number of special
learning opportunities offered, such as ROTC, teaching
verification, distance education for both undergraduate and
graduate programs, study abroad, and many more.
I believe that students select this institution over other
options for a number of reasons, including location and the
range of degrees offered. Penn State is one of the largest and
primary universities for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,
and there are not many other colleges and universities located in
the area. In addition, while the information included is
focusing on Penn State’s main campus, University Park, the
institution includes nineteen other branches, which make
programs such as the 2+2 program so popular, as the students
spend two years at a branch campus and then the final two years
at University Park. Furthermore, the university offers a large
number of programs and majors for the students to choose from.
