It's about how Ruby, throughout everything, was brave and kind and even prayed for those who despised her and wanted her out of the school. Rosa stayed a happy child and even prayed that those who despised her would be forgiven because they know not what they say. Rosa changed the lives of others and brought Blacks and Whites to go to school together.

1. Ruby Nell Bridges was born on September 8, 1954 in
Tylertown, Mississippi.
2. She was the oldest of Abon and Lucille Bridges’ eight
children.
3. When she was 4, her family moved to New Orleans so her
parents could find better jobs.

1. In 1954 Ruby was the first African American child to
attend a white public elementary school in the deep
south states of Georgia.
2. It was a big deal back then because black people
could not go to all white schools!
