defined

Clearly shows the students how their
work will be evaluated and what is
expected
Provides benchmark against which
to measure and document progress
Allows assessment to be more
objective and consistent

3. Why use a Rubrics?
 Provide useful feedback regarding the
effectiveness of instructions
 Promotes students awareness of the
criteria when assessing peer
performance
 Allows the teacher to clarify his/her
criteria in specific terms

Rubrics?
1. Competencies/Objectives for a unit of
work
2. Assessment criteria (what will you
assess) related to the objectives of the
unit of work;
3. Assessment task that will enable the
students to demonstrate the
assessment criteria;
