Sony faced major financial troubles in late 2008, losing nearly $1 billion. Its TV business in particular lost money for 10 consecutive years, with accumulated deficits of over $7 billion. While Sony expects profits from its electronics sector including the PS4, analysts believe the TV division will continue to lose $3-4 billion annually.
