Alice Verhagen worked in sales and project management for flexible packaging converters from 1994 to 2009. She took courses in printing on packaging and packaging processes which improved her ability to advise customers. In 2010, she started her own consulting business, AV Pack, where she provides services such as cost savings initiatives, packaging development validation, and design/marketing/printing support. Recent projects include managing packaging materials KPIs and developing standardized displays as a co-packaging project manager from 2012-2013 and coordinating printed packaging projects as a packaging design coordinator for pet food in 2013-2014.

Realisations after 15 years of exploring: body bags, diapers, dog waste bags, vegetables bags….. - printed film: beverages can packaging, french fries bags, petfood, fertilizers, candies etc…. 2001 – NVC course printing on packaging My first course at NVC!!! After completing this course I was a better you are able to judge the printing quality of your packaging using different criteria. Based on product type, product quantities, possibilities and limitations of technologies you will learn to choose the best possibility for printing a specific packaging. Thanks to this course I was a better advisor on packaging projects: pointing out the (im +) possibilities on printing issues, colour use and correct building up, etc.

Each product has its own requirements – thinking with the customer on his own needs and realising a packaging that accomplishes with all demands: Packaging is great! Helping a customer out and make suggestions for reduction. At the same time I felt I was limited in my knowledge on packaging: I worked mainly on flexible packaging (mono and multilayer) and on paper bags but packaging is more than only that! So – I decided to follow second course at NVC!!! 2010-2011: NVC Course in Packaging I Upon completing the course program, I gathered knowledge of production processes, the qualities, the possibilities and the impossibilities of packaging materials and resources. A strategy based on the packaging materials enabled me in optimizing the relationship between the packaging and the product, at middle management level. I was now able to analyze the vulnerabilities of the product and find the suitable packaging. 2010–>now: AV Pack–copy writer and consultant - Copy writer for packaging related companies and guest speaker at events into packaging. - Realize cost saving initiatives related to packaging and processes. - Validation and consultancy towards packaging development. - Consultant for design/ marketing and print technical support. Projects after my business education in packaging: 2012-2013 R+D – co packaging project manager - Managing KPI’s on packaging materials and displays + technical assistance and support towards the external co pack partners. - Research and development new packaging materials. - Realizations: standardization of displays for European market and development of copack manual: clear uniform specification sheet for both co packers and internal administration.
