Segobriga was home to various professions including miners, scribes, stone workshops, quarry workers, and a Greek doctor. Archaeological finds at the site include medical tools like clay plates and bone-handled metal knives, as well as clay and glass vessels. There was significant metallurgical activity producing tools for agriculture, livestock, and mining. Keys, nails, and other dairy tools were also found. Quarry work was likely the most important profession, providing materials for buildings. Craftsmen also produced tools for mine workings. Coins were minted in Segobriga, with up to a million coins minted across five series.
Romans typically ate two meals per day - breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was light and often consisted of leftovers, fruit, bread, and items like milk, eggs, cheese or honey. Lunch was a secondary meal of light foods like bread, cheese or fish. The main meal was dinner, starting at 5pm, which usually included boiled cereals with oil and vegetables along with other items like cabbage, beans, fruit, and wine. Meat was reserved for special occasions.
The Romans created the foundations of European cuisine by inventing fast cooking methods and establishing traditions of refined cooking. Food was an important part of rituals and funeral services, where items like honey and wine were offered. Common meals consisted of polenta, eggs, olives, cheese, and vegetables, while meat like pork and chicken was scarce. By the 3rd century AD, beef was prohibited for consumption. Famous Roman chefs wrote early cookbooks documenting recipes that featured a variety of spices, meats like pork, fish, mollusks, eggs, fruits, and honey-sweetened desserts.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
