2. Robert Drapkin MD is a board-certified professional who has
held key positions in many hospitals and medical academic
centers. He is licensed to practice in Florida and affiliated with
various organizations such as Pinellas County Medical
Association, Florida Society of Clinical Oncology, American
Medical Association, American Society for Blood and Marrow
Transplantation, and International Association for the Study of
Lung Cancer. He is the co-founder and Co-Director of stem cell
program at Morton Plant Hospital.
3. Academic background
Robert Drapkin attended Union College, Schenectady, New
York to receive his Bachelor of Science degree and thereafter
enrolled at Renssellaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy New York to
pursue his post-graduate degree. In 1971, he completed his
MD degree from Wayne State University Medical School,
Detroit, Michigan.
4. Past hospital appointments
Robert Drapkin MD was the Chief Resident and Instructor in
Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois, Chicago from
1974 to 1975. Thereafter, he completed his Medical Oncology/
Hematology fellowship from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer
Center, New York. Aside from that, he served as Attending
Physician, Clinician I, Department of Medicine, at Roswell Park
Memorial Institute, New York. From 1992 to 1997, Robert
Drapkin served Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater as the
Medical Director of Stem Cell program.
5. Current Appointments
Since 1980, Robert Drapkin MD has been serving as
Research Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine at the
University of South Florida School of Medicine. He is a Moffit
Cancer Center Affiliate Physician and also has affiliations with
Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, Tarpon Springs (Florida), Largo
Medical Center, Morton Plant Mease- Dunedin Hospital,
Dunedin (Florida), and Morton Plant Mease- Countryside
Hospital, Clearwater, Florida.
6. Recipient of research grants
Robert Drapkin MD received research grants from Mease
Hospital Foundation for Cancer Research for the years
1987-1988 and 1988-1989. Morton Plant Mease Foundation
has been providing philanthropic support to not-for-profit
hospitals of Morton Plant Mease Health Care for over 30
years. It aims at inspiring donors to take part in programs
that reflect their values and satisfy their needs for
recognition and promoting a feeling of making a difference.
