The Podis system aims to reduce road fatalities by minimizing the response time of first responders to traffic incidents. Road traffic injuries are projected to significantly increase globally and will become a major cause of disability-adjusted life years by 2030, especially affecting low-income countries. Urgent preventative actions are necessary to address this public health crisis.

Road traffic deaths and injuries are a
public health epidemic predicted to
increase globally over the next 20 years,
if preventative action is not taken
(Peden et al., 2004). According to the
World Health Organization, road traffic
injuries (RTI) will be one of the leading
causes of Disability Adjusted Life Years
(DALYs) in 2030 (Peden et al., 2004).
Low­income countries suffer
disproportionately high rates of
morbidity and mortality due to road
traffic crashes (Peden et al., 2004;
Peden et al., 2006).
