After John the Baptist was imprisoned, Jesus went to Galilee and proclaimed the good news that the kingdom of God was near. He called on people to repent and believe this good news. He explained that the time had come and God's kingdom was at hand, signaling people to change their ways and trust in Jesus' message. This included taking risks like immediately dropping what they were doing to follow Jesus, as demonstrated by his call to James and John to leave their fishing business and father to become his disciples.
I AM the Bread of Life - John Lusk 10-16-16DenverCoC
In this third sermon in The Great I AM series, we will investigate Jesus' bold and obscure claim that he is the bread of life. What was he revealing about himself in this claim? What does it mean for us today? How should we live accordingly?

Doug Preston finished off our series "A Day To Remember" with the feast of Tabernacles, "Trusting God for the Journey", Deuteronomy 16:13-15 and John 6:25-51.
Every command in the Bible is impossible to keep as God requires. It is truly impossible for anyone to be holy as God is holy, to be perfect even as our Father in heaven is perfect, to love our enemies as God "so loved the world." So, if every command is impossible to keep, why did God command us in the first place? Is it possibly that He wants us to depend on Him, for us to allow His Spirit to work through us?
CHORUS:
Yes I’ll run to the cross,At its foot all my burden layJesus carries them all and frees me,What a sweet, sweet relief; That I get there on my kneesI’ll take it all to Jesus and take His peace.

Have you ever noticed that anxious thoughts are like a broken record?
I know with Ipods etc. it’s a bit outdated to be using a record analogy here but it works well to illustrate a key point about anxious thoughts.
Remember when a record got scratched it made a very unpleasant sound and caused the needle to get stuck on the same groove.
The same one line would play over and over again ad nauseam until you picked up the needle and moved it past the scratch.
Anxious thoughts are bit like this. You might be happily going about your day and then something triggers an anxious thought.
The worry the thought creates sends an unpleasant shock wave through your nervous system. (The scratch on the record).
Then once you start reacting to the anxious thought it is hard to stop thinking about it over and over again. (The needle stuck in a groove)
The repetitive anxious thought can last minutes, hours , days depending on how upset you become by the thought.
I want to share with you a quick technique to jump out of this anxious groove. This technique is you learning how to pick up the record needle and move it past the scratch.

he Baccalaureate Mass is traditionally a religious service rooted in the medieval European custom of presenting graduating candidates for the degree of Bachelor (bacca) with laurels (lauri) or recognition of their achievement. At the University of the Incarnate Word, this service takes form as a Catholic Mass, thanking God for the time our graduates have devoted to growing in wisdom at this place of education. It is the final spiritual act we walk with our students as they commence the next chapter of their lives. The service is held within a couple weeks of the graduation/commencement ceremony, perhaps on a Sunday before, the day preceding, or immediately preceding the graduation. Speakers selected tend to be community leaders, faculty members, students, or local religious leaders, and may be elected by the graduating class. Speeches are often intermixed with musical performances, drama, and worship. A modern-day Baccalaureate address generally lasts less than half an hour. In ancient times they could last as long as four hours.A baccalaureate service (or baccalaureate Mass) is a celebration that honors a graduating class from a college, high school, or middle school. The event is typically a Christianity-based interdenominational (ecumenical) service, though it may also be conducted with a particular tradition's liturgy, especially if the academic institution is affiliated with a certain Christian denomination such as the Catholic Church, Lutheran Church, among others.
Jesus clearly asserts that He is the only way. Our inclusive culture finds this teaching exasperating. Yet it is at the very heart of the gospel. In this sermon we will explore how to build a bridge between Jesus' exclusive claims and our culture's attitude that "it's all good."
Many of the Jews questioned Jesus closely when he made the statement that He is the light of the world. As they question and Jesus answers, I find four threads that run throughout the conversation that are vital for us to understand if we long for eternal life. First, understanding who Jesus is: the son of God and I am; second, why should I listen to Jesus; third, we can know the truth: fourth, what it means to follow Jesus.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
