Jesus did not call us to live longer, feel happier, and look better, but to, "Deny your self, take up your cross daily and follow me" (Luke 9:23). http://wp.me/po4gZ-1vW
The feeding of the 5000 is one of the most well known miracles of Jesus, yet we often miss some of the most important points. In this lesson we will learn about who Jesus is. He is our compassionate helper, the powerful God, and the Prophet and King.

Peter's Perspective on One Month To Live: "Learn Humbly"i12know

What prevents the non-believing world from truly knowing who Jesus is? (Jn. 1:10-12; 2 Cor. 2:14) Why didn’t Pilate know what Truth was when the One who is Truth was standing only a few feet from him? (John 18:33-38) Why didn’t the disciples understand who Christ was though they had spent three solid years with Him? Why didn’t the disciples on the Emmaus Road know who Jesus was though He had already risen from the dead and reports of His resurrection had been announced to His disciples? (Luke 24:13-35)
From a talk given at Blazing Fire Church www.blazingfire.org on 3/3/2019. Pastor Susan Fochler traces Peter's transformation from head-strong to humble, showing how he became secure in his sonship and ready to lead a new move of God. The Parable of the Sower and the Seed (Luke 8) is about radical transformation from dirt to new life that happens from God's Word and the dangers that come for those seeking spiritual growth!
We've got to allow God to strip down all the years of grime and cheap paint piled on top of each other. He needs to get down to the bare original so He can begin to fill the cracks, sand the rough edges, and make our hearts beautiful again. He’s already looked beneath the layers and has determined that we're all worth doing over.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

9. When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea
Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do
people say the Son of Man is?” They replied,
“Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah;
and still others, Jeremiah or one of the
prophets.”
11. Simon Peter answered,
“You are the Messiah, the Son of the living
God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of
Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by
flesh and blood, but by my Father in
heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and
on this rock I will build my church, and the
gates of Hades will not overcome it.
12. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be
bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on
earth will be loosed in heaven.” Then he
ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that
he was the Messiah.
13. From that time on Jesus began to explain to his
disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and
suffer many things at the hands of the elders,
the chief priests and the teachers of the
law, and that he must be killed and on the
third day be raised to life.
14. Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
“Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never
happen to you!”
Jesus turned and said to Peter,
“Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling
block to me; you do not have in mind the
concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
Matthew 16:13-23 (NIV)
15. Be Bold enough to stand Alone
Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.” Luke 9:20
16. Convictions come from a belief that life is
meant to be lived a certain way. Convictions
are like an anchor on a stormy sea, a compass
on an unfamiliar path, and a trusted friend to
lean on.
Right is right even when everyone is against
it.
Wrong is wrong even when everyone is for it.
17. Be Wise enough to know when to get
help
Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
“Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never
happen to you!” Matt 16:22
Then [Peter] went outside and wept bitterly.
Luke 22:62
18. Be Wise enough to know when to get
help
“The heart is deceitful above all things and
beyond cure. Who can understand it?” Jeremiah
17:9
19. Be Wise enough to know when to get
help
“Know thyself” Socrates
20. Be Brave enough to ask for it
As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is
the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around
him and jumped into the water. John 21:7
21. It's not what we do once in a while that
shapes our lives. It's what we do
consistently because it’s who we are.
Those who doggedly pursue a course of
action, who learn from their mistakes
and who try again and again will in the
end, go farther, do more and become all
they intended.
