RISK ASSESMENT
Media Production
Environmental risks:
The outdoor and indoor environment can provide many dangerous situations that can be
hazardous to the actors, film crew and filming equipment e.g.
Weather hazards such as rain, snow and ice.
Slippery conditions that may cause individuals to fall or slip.
Weather that may induce hypothermia and holds a possibility of freezing to death.
Extreme weather, which could induce heat related problems such as sunburn, sun stroke
and dehydration.
Human risks and factors:
Human error may take place during production and filming in undesirable and hazardous ways e.g.
Camera may run out of battery during a filming session so it must be mad sure that the camera
is fully charged.
The crew and cast must make sure all equipment (camera, tripod etc.) is treated with respect
and is looked after to avoid damage, which could threaten the possibility of future use.
Individuals from outside parties (not from the HSFC media department, tutor or student) may
try to take equipment or bring danger or harm to the members of the cast and crew.
With the transportation of the equipment, measures must be taken to avoid damage (accidental
damage) such as keep camera’s and tripods in protective casings and only have them exposed
during usage.
Personal injury risks:
During the production of the video the possibilities are rather large that personal injury can occur.
In the most recent ‘Travers White productions’ production was shot several health risks such as:
A knife was use and it needed fake blood to be rubbed upon its blade, this could have
caused serious injury.
The part of the production which was filmed in the wilderness location we had the
possibility of injury as steep hills had to be climbed and old railway bridges which could be
possibly structurally unstable.
The area in which we shot is a remote location with no help by land available for minimum
two miles.
Please sign in the boxes below to show that you have read and understand the recorded risk
possibilities and to show that we had your consent to take part in the newest ‘ Travers White
Productions’ project with full understanding of the possible dangers that occurred with the activity.
