1.4 0584 improving mv cable system specificationsDutch Power
The document discusses improving medium voltage cable system specifications. It focuses on topics like data collection and health indexes, diagnostic techniques, and laboratory tests. Specific areas examined include assessing the completeness of functional requirements, quality levels, and proposing improvements. Main failure causes in cables like damage to outer sheaths and in joints like bad workmanship and moisture ingress are outlined. Concerns with specifications for items like semi-conducting screens, mechanical protection, conductor materials, and joint tests are raised and recommendations are made.
1. The document discusses yttrium doping of three cathode materials - LiFePO4, LiMn2O4, and Li1+xV3O8 - to improve their electrochemical performance in lithium-ion batteries.
2. Yttrium doping had different effects on the structure and morphology of the three materials. It reduced grain size and improved grain morphology for LiFePO4, but did not change structure or morphology for LiMn2O4. For Li1+xV3O8, doping made the morphology more irregular and particles larger.
3. Electrochemical performance was enhanced by yttrium doping for LiFePO4 and Li1+x

For each block, it provides brief summaries of some of the selected papers to be presented, including their relevance, writing quality, importance, and whether they are worth reading.
This document discusses energy storage for energy consumers. It discusses:
1) The balancing act of energy storage as renewable energy sources and distributed generation increase.
2) Applications of energy storage at various levels from bulk to community to consumer.
3) How energy storage enables growing needs for flexibility as demand and supply become more variable.
4) Practical examples that show the value of energy storage for renewables integration, system operations, transmission and distribution, and end use.
This document discusses the design of the Zero EZE, a small hybrid-electric aircraft intended to have zero emissions. It will use a proton exchange membrane fuel cell, powered by hydrogen, along with a piston engine. The design aims to achieve a cruise speed of 308 km/h and range of 760km on a single tank. While fuel cell aircraft have not been widely used before due to cost and technical challenges, the document argues this design could help create an economy less dependent on oil and prosper without emissions by providing affordable, clean air transportation.
1.1 0128 measurement of the force...mv jointsDutch Power
Thermal testing was conducted on medium voltage cable joints, including screw connectors and compression connectors. The screw connectors had more flexibility and withstood the testing better, with lower resistance and less damage than the compression connectors. One cable showed a burn hole in the insulation and shielding near the compression connector joint after getting hot.
4.1 0583 smart storage in lv distribution gridDutch Power
The document discusses a smart storage system installed in a low voltage distribution grid by Enexis, consisting of photovoltaic panels, inverters, batteries, and a controller system. The smart storage unit was installed in the third quarter of 2012 at a location called "Zandschel" and is currently being researched in cooperation with TU/e to develop smart control capabilities and analyze effects on grid losses, battery life, self-consumption of solar energy, and reliability of the distribution grid.
1.2 1231 control of inductive load switching transientsDutch Power
This document summarizes a presentation on controlling inductive load switching transients from a CIRED 2013 conference. It discusses three topics: an overview of switching transients and when protection measures are needed; a new IEC standard on inductive load switching; and whether dry-type transformers are experiencing more failures due to overvoltages and vacuum issues. The standard outlines test duties for motor circuits up to 17.5 kV. It also notes that dry-type transformers less than 5 years old have been experiencing overheating and potential failures, though the causes are still being investigated. The conclusions are that steep voltage rises are not a vacuum-specific problem, and dry transformer standards may need updating based on field experiences.

This document discusses the role of small modular reactors (SMRs) in the Dutch energy landscape. It notes that ULC-Energy has exclusive agreements with Rolls-Royce SMR in the UK for SMR deployment in the Netherlands. SMRs can provide flexible energy output for electricity, heat, and hydrogen. They offer a 24/7 available clean energy source to power industry and benefit the public. SMRs can also provide backup grid services and reduce infrastructure investment needs.
Dutch Power Event 6. Sophie Macfarlane-Smith - Rolls Royce SMRDutch Power
Rolls-Royce SMR Ltd is introducing their small modular reactor (SMR) technology. They are a technology vendor offering a complete SMR power plant on a turnkey basis, with their development program fully funded through commercial equity and UK government grants totaling €580 million. Their SMR design is based on over 60 years of nuclear design and manufacturing experience at Rolls-Royce and is meant to provide clean, affordable energy through a factory-built, standardized approach to reduce risk.
Dutch Power Event 7. Titus Tielens - Thorizon.pdfDutch Power
1) Thorizon is developing a molten salt reactor to provide stable, affordable carbon-free nuclear energy as part of addressing challenges in the energy transition such as limited grid capacity and unstable prices.
2) Thorizon's patented cartridge concept contains all the nuclear fuel and complexity, making the molten salt reactor intrinsically safe, and allowing the fuel to be continuously transported out of the reactor core.
3) The Thorizon reactor can turn existing nuclear waste into clean energy, extracting over 95% of the energy content and producing waste that is only radioactive for hundreds of years rather than tens of thousands of years.
Presentatie Dutch Power 8. Beata Tyburska-Pueschel - DIFFERDutch Power
DICE (DIFFER's Irradiation-Corrosion Experiment) is a project that aims to test materials for molten salt reactors through a unique approach that allows for simultaneous irradiation and corrosion of thin metal samples in thorium salt at temperatures up to 1000°C. The design of DICE includes a small cell that holds hair-thin samples and thorium salt, shielding to protect from fast particles, and the ability to heat samples and take accurate temperature measurements over a period representing 1 year of MSR operation in only 5 days. DICE is the only facility of its kind in Europe for testing molten salt reactor materials under conditions that closely mimic actual reactor environments.
