Develop Hip APIs and Apps with Spring Boot and Angular - Connect.Tech 2017Matt Raible
Building a modern web application requires a lot of tools, frameworks, and techniques. This session shows how JHipster unites popular frameworks such as Angular, Spring Boot, and Bootstrap. Learn how Yeoman, a scaffolding tool for modern web apps, works with JHipster to generate a project that uses Java 8, SQL or NoSQL databases, Spring profiles, Maven or Gradle, Webpack, WebSockets, and BrowserSync. It also supports a number of different authentication mechanisms, including classic session-based auth, OAuth 2.0, and JWT-based authentication. For production deployments, JHipster includes out-of-the-box support for AWS, Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Angular continues to be one of the most popular frameworks for building modern web applications. The impending release of Angular version 4 has many developers in a panic. What is Angular version 4? What happened to version 3? Do I have to learn a bunch of new stuff? Will my code break?
Well, fear not Angular fans. We have answers and more. In this mini-session, we'll explain where we came from and where we are going. And more importantly, we have code samples. We will show you some of the latest cool stuff including the new *ngIf, animations, TypeScript 2.2 support, and the revised router. And prove to you most of the changes to Angular are pretty modest and shouldn't require much if any code changes.

if you are looking to hire ReactJS developers for your project, there is no need to wander around. We have outlined each step and what you need to consider while hiring React developers. Let’s dive in right away!
From its humble beginning as a place where people would pay $5 to get a funny video, Fiverr has grown into the world’s largest marketplace for digital services.
Along the way, our frontend architecture has had to evolve as well - with technologies changing at a rapid pace and frontend developers in general always wanting to work with the latest, shiniest thing, not being adaptable to the environment around you can easily lead you down a road where your stack can’t support your needs & where you’re constantly playing catch-up to whatever it is everyone else is doing.
In this talk, I’ll give an overview of the FE path that Fiverr took — where we started, what we’re currently doing and where we’re (hopefully) going.
JSX is the React extension to JavaScript that allows you to create components using a syntax similar to HTML. While most block editor tools and tutorials on the web provide JSX examples for creating blocks, not many folks know that it is not required. You can use plain JavaScript.
In part 1, we built a simple WordPress block using plain JavaScript. However, the block was static, in that a user couldn't edit the content in any way.
This week we will add support for attributes, as well as implement the pre-existing RichText component. These will enable a user to edit the content of the block.
Build a portfolio of projects to demonstrate your proficiency.
Stay updated with industry trends and best practices.
Start your journey today and embark on an exciting career in web development!
We take a look at React Native to build a Reddit Feed application. We explore how difficult is to use it and if the skillset from web is translatable to developing mobile applications using React
Antonio is a Java developer and knows nothing about user interfaces. He uses his Mac to develop Java EE micro-services, runs them with WildFly Swarm, packages in the Docker and exposes beautiful REST APIs.
Sébastien is a TypeScript developer and knows nothing about Java. Employed at Microsoft, he uses his PC to develop beautiful user interfaces with TypeScript and Angular to invoke the services REST exposed by Antonio.
This university is intended for Java and Angular developers who want to learn how to use a Angular / TypeScript front-end with a Java / MicroProfile back-end. It is composed of two parts:
1) More theoretical: presentation of the Enterprise Micro Profile, WildFly Swarm, the TypeScript syntax and Angular.
2) More practical: development of an Angular application using several REST back-ends (JAX-RS, JSon: API, Swagger, Cors, Hateoas, ETag, JWT, Traeffik).

Type Systems & Props Design - Exploring PropTypes, TypeScript, Flow & ReasonNikolaus Graf
Badly designed props can lead to components that are frustrating to use. While there are a couple patterns to make components more pleasant to use, ultimately it needs a type system in combination with a good editor integration for an even better developer experience. Yet not all type systems are the same. They offer different features and therefore lead to different experiences.
Using Reason's type inference we can create GraphQL servers with 100% type coverage. Regardless if we compile to Node.js or native binaries using Reason we can do this with ease.
Besides that Reason shines even more so on the client. Send one quick introspection request and you get full auto completion on your schema right in the browser.
We will kick off with the basics and then quickly go into how to leverage features like variant types and pattern matching to make impossible states impossible. After you gained some knowledge about the basics the talk will dig even further into ReasonReact.
Introduction to React in combination with Redux. Redux helps you to develop applications in a simple way while having features like time-travel available during development.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
