Complex Litigation, ADR, Negotiations, Risk Management. Led Motorola patent licensing and
litigation team resulting in $300,000,000 in settlements. Managed $50 million outside legal counsel
budget. Chief litigation and negotiation counsel in more than 75 Superfund actions. Involved in
hundreds of mediations and arbitrations. Developed statistical litigation risk analyses for a number of
Fortune 500, including Tyco securities cases. Led risk management team for the 78 satellite Iridium
system construction and launch.
Regulatory Negotiations and Compliance. Developed corporate wide compliance programs for data
security, eCommerce, eDiscovery, environmental, intellectual property and litigation processes.
Successfully negotiated disputes with numerous federal agencies and more than 20 state agencies.
Conducted legal survival seminar for 250 engineers to be deployed on a global project to 11 different
countries. Led risk management team for the 78 satellite Iridium system construction and launch and
developed risk management tools.

policies for numerous businesses, including Fortune 100. Motorola eDiscovery coordinator. Led
development of Motorola eCommerce team. Arbitrator in multimillion dollar case involving the
construction of a medical informatics system for a 17 hospital healthcare system.
Biotechnology. Editor-in-Chief and coauthor of “Biotechnology and the Law,” the ABA’s best selling
treatise. Arbitrator in action between Novartis and Abbott regarding the validity of the Humara patent with
a future value of more than $40 billion. Chair of the Board for the Arizona State University Center for
Law, Science & Innovation, and annual guest biotechnology lecturer.

Motorola Global ADR Coordinator.
Litigation Strategy and Risk Analysis. Conducted hundreds of litigation risk analyses including Tyco
securities actions and ZTE cell phone patent infringement cases. Created data management systems
and policies for numerous businesses, including Fortune 100. Internal investigation for STEM based
school system following hostile departure of general counsel. Provided crisis management services to
the Provost of the University of Illinois following the National Institute of Health pulling $40 million in
grants for human experimentation.

Complex Litigation – Subject Matter: Led Motorola patent licensing and litigation team resulting in
$300,000,000 in settlements. Motorola wide responsibility for all Superfund and environmental

Litigation – Process: Managed $30-50 million annual outside counsel budget. Developed litigation
metrics for statistical analysis and organization of all litigation matters, expenditures, and budgets.
Motorola Global ADR coordinator. Led initiative to reorganize Motorola’s management of outside
law firms resulting in reduction of outside firms from 260 to less than 60.
Litigation -- Decision Tree / Statistical Strategy Analysis: Developed statistical decision science
tools for litigation analysis/strategy planning. In-house litigation consultant for all major Motorola
litigation, disputes, liability allocations, mediations, and settlements.
eCommerce, Data Management, Cyber Security, Privacy. Reorganized and led Motorola Law
Department internet law group. Organized corporate legal systems relating to issues such as
electronic contracting, information collection, privacy, internet security, electronic discovery, and
international jurisdiction and coordination. Conducted internal and external eCommerce seminars
and training. Created processes and policies for all document retention and electronic discovery and
led implementation.
Superfund / Environmental, Health, and Safety: Lead responsibility for centralizing, reorganizing,
and managing Motorola Superfund program. Initiated an aggressive risk-based approach resulting
in more than $100 million of dollars saved and/or returned to Motorola. Extensive expertise in
agency negotiations, EHS compliance, strategy, and dispute resolution.
Crisis / Risk Analysis and Management: Led risk management team for the 78 satellite Iridium
system construction and launch and develop risk management tools. Developed and participated in
crisis management teams throughout corporation.
Public / Media / Government Relations: Extensive expertise with Federal and State agencies
throughout the United States and in developing and/or repairing agency and public relationships.
