THE TABERNACLE
1. WHAT IS THE TABERNACLE ?
 ●It is a place of worship for Jews especially when they
were in the wilderness.
 ●It was portable.
 ●Tabernacle = Dwelling Place
2. HOW WAS IT CONSTRUCTED ?

HEBREWS 8:5
 It was purely the plan of God, He was the Designer the
Architect.
 He gave instructions on how it was to be constructed.
 The dimensions, the colors and the materials where each
item will be placed and because it was portable, who and
how to carry, erect and also to deconstruct.
WHY BOTHER TO FIND JESUS IN THE
OLD TESTAMENT
2 Timothy 3:15
 And from childhood you have been taught the Holy Scriptures and they have
given you wisdom to receive the Salvation that comes by having Faith which
is In Christ.
● N/B The Holy Tabernacle foreshadows used Christ, without whom there is no
salvation.

 □(b) It teaches about the Presence of God i.e Exodus 25:8. That I may dwell
among My People.
 N/B The Tabernacle teaches us the way to God’s Presence.

JESUS THE SHADOW IN THE TABERNACLE
1. THE WALL
 The mediator – The wall separated the world and the holy
place/things.
 The wall clothe made of flax – the humanity of Jesus.
 Flax was clubbed to become the white linen.
i.e the suffering of Jesus as man.
 White linen Symbolizes the sinless life of Jesus.
 It was tall 8ft such that no one could see what was inside,
only through the gate

2. THE GATE
Ex 27:9-19
The only entrance in the holy place.
NB Jesus is the only entrance into salvation.
John 10:9
 It is wide enough 10 meters – many can go through at the same
time.
 Made of four colors – it is very visible all can see it.
 The gate is closed but not locked. For one to go in he/she had
to purpose and desire to go in. Titus 2:10

The altar of burnt offering/ the cross
 Ex 227:1-8
 Lev 6:12-13The fire that never goes out.
 Bronze - Gods judgement
 NB The animals were killed unwillingly and that is why they
were to be tied unto the horn of the altar but Jesus went to
the cross willingly.
Jesus is the refuge
1st Kings 1:50-53 Adonijah son of David run to the bronze altar
for fear thats he might be killed by Solomon.
The larva brass / bronze
 Ex 30:17-21
 Ex 38:8 - Larva made of mirrors that women had.
NB - Water and mirrors - we are washed by the word of God i.e
after we are are being justified- we also examine ourselves or
look at ourselves through the word - Jesus is the word
 NB The larva had no measurements, unlike all the other items-
There is no limited times we should be devoted to the word of
God.
 The word of God is our only source of our identity.

 Before we offer our sacrifice and even after
offering we look at ourselves and realize that its
only by the grace of God / the finished work of
the cross that we can serve God and have
fellowship with him.
 it was placed in front of the veil into the holy
place.
CONCLUSION
 Jesus is the mediator, the go between God and humanity.
He is the only way to God (the gate) no one can bypass
Christ and go to the father.
 Jesus is our substitutionary sacrifice, he took the
judgement of our sin and by him we have the justification
(the bronze altar).
 We have an ongoing need to see ourselves as we truly are
and to wash ourselves with the word of God. Though this is
not a requirement of salvation, it is crucial for a Christian
life or the life of a believer.

 It represents sacrifice and the shedding of blood for atonement.
 It was foreshadowing the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus that would atone
for humanity.
4. Badger skin
 Represent separation between God and the world.
 The dirty brown appearance represent the world fallen state and the
need for God’s protection.
 Protection from eternal dangers and challenges.

THE GOSPEL ON THE COVERING

Table of shewbread
 It represents Jesus
 Our fellowship with God which is only through Christ.
 God has a meal with us.
 12 loaves of bread set before God at the table for seven days.
 The table had a crown which ensured that these loaves can slid down and
become desecrate.
NB IN CHRIST NO BACKSLIDING
 The bread goes through two processes
1. Grounding/Crushed
2. Baked – Subjected to heat
NB for our will to be the will of God it has to be crushed and baked i.e our will
has to be broken and purified in testing so as to become like the bread that sit
upon the table of showbread before the face of God.
 God is always looking forward to see my will being his will.
 The only thing that I can offer to God is my will . He can‘t take it from me by
force. God does not force us to consecrate ourselves for him but he is looking
forward for it.

 When we are confronted with a situation or a challenge to make a decision
will the will of God prevail over our will?
 The will surrendered to God is his food (The Samaritan woman at the well)
When she surrendered, Jesus said, “my food is to do the will of the one who
sent me”
 John 4:34 To see surrendered wills.
THE LAMPSTAND
 It represent the church.
 The illuminated mind.

 We are the light of the world i.e this is a place of evangelism.
NB The candlestick was filled oil daily is a type of the renewing of the spirit of
your mind. It is letting the holy spirit move in and take control of your thinking
mind, intellect surrender.
Our minds are illuminated only when we look on Jesus Christ

NB The more you have the holy spirit the holy spirit the more you have the fear of
