Consulting: 2003 to Present
Consulting engagements included Ogilvy Action, William Wrigley Jr. Company, Bank of America, Jewish
Community Center, Accenture, Jacobson Group, and ElectroMotive.
Ogilvie Action - Worked at leading-edge promotion agency whose clientele includes Kraft, SC
Johnson, Motorola, American Airlines, United Airlines, Quaker Oats, Western Union, and Unilever.
Extensively used SAP and advanced Excel skills comprising, but not limited to V Lookup, index and
match, pivot tables, at if functions, and links to produce: 1) chargeable billings by employee 2) chargeable
hours billing summaries (shown for each open job number), 3) project tracking reports comparing project-
to-date billings with retainers, 4) other accounting reports. SAP used elsewhere to: determine if cost had
already been billed, retrieve estimates and cost detail, ascertain payment status of expense reports,
create purchase orders.
Wrigley Company - Worked in (the Intercompany Accounting department of) world-renowned
confectionery company at the historic Wrigley Building, heavily utilizing SAP and Excel in performing
account reconciliations and analyses, special projects; document processing and processing
management. Worked on monthly closings, quarterly closings, foreign currency transactions, and
preparation of journal entries.
Bank of America - Performed reconciliations on interest rate derivatives (swaps) in 1) locating,
identifying, and matching “open items” of receivables, payables, and various types of cash inflows and
outflows and 2) ascertained that confirmations were performed on any swaps involving fees and/or
notionals greater than or equal to $5,000,000.
Jewish Community Center - Assisted outside auditors with FYE audit, performed general ledger
and bank reconciliations, redesigned bank reconciliation Excel templates, made internal control
recommendations. Used Kintera Fundware (not-for-profit accounting software).
Accenture - Performed monthly reconciliations of general accounts, tying out SAP to: 1) ARSAP, 2)
Excel account reconciliations, and 3) supporting schedules (by use of Excel hyperlinks); identified issues
for follow up. When out-of-balance conditions were uncovered, used email to instruct Accenture contacts
to true up accounts (by preparation of correcting journal entries) or send corrected schedules. Worked on
special project.
Jacobson Group - Assisted in conversion from Peachtree to MS Great Plains. Reconciled out-of-
balance conditions (discrepancies) in Accounts Receivable, worked on aging analyses. Performed
payroll functions and expense report analysis.
ElectroMotive - Worked on FYE accounts payable reconciliation project in tying out accounts per
vendor statements, SAP, and general ledger balances.

2. Major Accomplishments:
• Streamlined processing of invoices by eliminating a step which did not add value (Wrigley Co).
• Significantly reduced the backlog of unprocessed invoices, enabling payment (or collection) of the
“now-processed” invoices (Wrigley Co).
• Found and corrected purchase order input errors (which occurred in shipping and receiving that
had caused resulting invoices to be unprocessable) (Wrigley Co).
• Minimized company exposure for “use of funds” (and related financial penalties) involving
transactions where funds had been received, but bank had been “unable to apply” (BOA).
• Found and investigated “non-receipt of funds” situations, then performed follow-up activities that
resulted in collection of these amounts due. (BOA).
• Reduced the number of old, open receivable items, which otherwise would have impacted
company’s profits by being written off (never collected) (Wrigley Co).
Amtrak, Chicago, IL 1996 to 2003
Auditor
Auditor in Charge/ team leader on financial and operational audits. Involved in all phases of audits:
planning and set-up, risk analysis, drafting of audit programs; field work, and development of findings.
Wrote audit reports; performed work paper review and employee performance evaluations. Other
significant activities included editing of department monthly activity reports, research, teaching audit
techniques workshops, and annual audit plan.
Major Accomplishments:
• Recovered millions of dollars in the execution of contract compliance audits.

(involving wire transfers and investment purchases). Supervised and evaluated staff and administered
personnel functions.

Audit Supervisor
Ran operational audits, as AIC, for company-owned but outside managed properties located throughout
the Midwest. Involved in all phases including addressing function, pre-field work, engagement letter, field
work, management of audit team, entrance and exit conferences, and writing of audit report. (Prudential
had one of the largest real estate portfolios in the nation at this time).
Navistar International (formerly International Harvester), Chicago, IL 1979 to 1980
Financial and Business Manager
Prepared single entity and consolidated financial statements; earnings, sales, and capital projections.
Participated in five and ten year planning. Performed profitability analyses, variance analyses, and
special projects. Monitored manpower levels, displaying them via graph preparation.

Internal Auditor and Accounting Manager
As Internal Auditor/Accounting Manager in the transportation division (tractor trailer loans) of this major
corporate lender, managed day-to-day operations of accounting staff while also conducting audits of
company’s lending offices.
Major Accomplishment:
Balanced general ledger control account to the subsidiary accounts, correcting an out of-balance
condition that had been in effect for a long time prior to the beginning of my employment.
Aon Corporation (formerly Combined Insurance Company of America) Chicago, IL 1975 to 1977
Internal Auditor
Performed operational audits of: sales offices, claims department, agency insurance, and investment
accounting project (including its flowcharting). Worked on outside CPA firm’s annual certified audit and
verification of: annual statement, 10-K report, and subsidiary convention statement.
Major Accomplishment:
Recommended procedures and improvements for systems of internal control (which were implemented).
