Managing all human resource functions, including policy creation and implementation, performance appraisals, talent
acquisition, compensation, payroll, benefits administration, worker’s compensation, occupational health and safety and
employee relations at a start-up manufacturer of freeze-dried food products with operations in four states (Oregon,
Idaho, Michigan and Tennessee).
Achievements:
✓ Lead the selection and hiring process of the Operations Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, Maintenance
Manager and production shift managers for the start up of the facility.
✓ Created a promotion proposal system that required managers to justify to executive management those
employees they wished to promote to ensure the promotion was proposed based upon individual merit. The
system included a panel interview of peer managers.
2. ✓ Developed a comprehensive benefits program including medical, dental, vision, Life/AD&D and 401(k) plans
for all employees.
✓ Created databases with restricted access as a repository for personnel documents that could be shared with
specific department managers.
✓ Researched and wrote the Company’s inaugural Employee Handbook.
✓ Instituted a management training program for company managers, many of whom had no previous
management experience.
✓ Established an annual training program for all employees on harassment, including a separate session for
managers on how to recognize and investigate harassment.
