not fluent in either language, I have a basic understanding and an 'ear' for these languages. I believe
that People all have the ability to understand each other, achieved by how well we listen to each other. I
am currently using my French knowledge in my current job duties.

Current Job Duties
My current job duties as Tester, are testing and confirmation of various tests and cases co-ordinated by
job task. This has developed my skill in documentation and is increasing my knowledge of Advantage
windows and detail, and Green Shield Canada Web sites for Plan Member, Online Administration, and
Provider Connect portal.
My high-school French has become an asset to my job.
Previous testing of web, include WebSheildStats and reporting, the Student Web, Call Advantage and a
few others.
My technical skill and knowledge bring me to the different systems I work with on the web, in Dental KFI
and Dental OCR, both English and French for Confirmation Letters, ID cards plastic and paper, and
Statement and Payments.
Interaction between co-workers in Testing, Programming and SE seniors along with Supervisor and
Managers is quite frequent in the Testers line of work.
My Green Shield Canada background has been a tremendous benefit.
I have also learned to write my own SQL scripts with no formal training.
In my job I have also mentored about 9 members of the SPS team – instructing them on how we use Heat
to track issues and demo-ing Online Admin, and more.
Over the years, I have developed a good rapport with all levels of Green Shield Canada, including the
London and Toronto offices.
I truly enjoy and continue to learn in the Testing Environment.
On previous experience:
I was involved with Business Process Re-Engineering to build Advantage.....from start in mid 90s.
I developed system procedures for processing of different claim types with business with analysts at
Green Shield Canada.
Flowcharts when missing were developed by Operations (inclusive of myself).
Though I was not Manager of Operations - I ran the dept from 1989 to 2001...with little assistance from
manager.
I scheduled Overtime, extra work, and employees, set up training schedules and recommendations.
I introduced new incoming Operations staff to Supervisory staff in building, and provided a tour of the
Green Shield Canada environments.
For 1.5 years I was the Tech Support for Data Entry dept....recovering data during system crashes and
5. scheduling service....during BPRE.
I also balanced claims being transferred from Mainframe to DB for Advantage...dating from 1981 to load
history.
I wrote and corrected JCL to correct file damage when a program failed (ie. file reorg), or when a new
backup creation was needed.
I worked steady afternoons for over 10 years alone working from 3:30pm until 6am, and sometimes 8 am
the following day.
Every day at 8:30 am during Legacy years that I was working, the system was up and running for users
regardless of what took place overnight.
Computer room and Data Entry cooling systems (maintenance) calls were also placed by myself and my
co-workers.
I trained over 15 people in Operations, including a current director who came from a Tandem background.
For years, overtime was open to me in the Computer room and the function of H & S. My duties were
completed.
I put together dumb computers and ordered parts both for Legacy as a whole and dumb machines - at
that time parts were even selected as English or French.
Data cables were also moved by myself when we needed new lines to add machines (to a multi-plexer).
Computer room supplies also were ordered by Operations staff as myself. At a certain time, I travelled
to University Computer building to borrow paper at 2 am in the morning so my midnight tasks would be
completed, and reports ready for users.
Self Education included reading manuals both on computer systems and UPS systems, local to Computer
room at time.
Also, included were building maintenance calls and security.
Performing extra volunteerism outside Green Shield Canada came later, and there is a little more.
On courses:
Most of the courses listed above were company paid, except for my 3 year course at St. Clair College,
If they weren't paid from GSC - a few were paid from local Union, and National Office Union.
At home, I maintain a home network of 6 pc’s, and their software.
References will be supplies when requested (both internal and external to GSC).
