This document outlines the steps of an information literacy workshop hosted at Richland College Library. It discusses common research challenges students face and introduces a 3 workshop series for obtaining an Information Literacy Certificate. The workshops cover introducing research skills, electronic research strategies, and avoiding plagiarism through proper citation. A 5 step process for effective research is also presented: defining your topic, locating sources, accessing those sources, evaluating information quality, and ethically using information through citation.
