This document discusses a proposed survey of undergraduate studio art students at the University of Washington. [It aims to understand students' information needs, search behaviors, and potential benefits of instruction on library resources.] The survey would ask students about their major, year, library usage, search purposes and preferences, desire to learn more search strategies especially for images, and internet image searching. Previous research found art students often look for inspiration, techniques and trends; browse more than use databases; and prefer books, magazines and physical libraries over online resources. The survey aims to apply these findings to understand UW art students' needs and how the library can better support them.
