This research proposal examines the relationship between markets and the sense of community in the SS2 neighborhood. It will study the morning and night markets to understand how their attributes reflect local identities. The morning market begins at 3AM and features vendors arranged by food type who greet regular customers. The night market on Mondays attracts different age groups and focuses on local street food. Both markets foster social interaction and cultural engagement through food shopping and promote SS2's multi-ethnic culture. The research will involve visiting the markets, photographing them, and interviewing locals to understand the markets' role in bonding the community through shared food culture.
