Contract Farming as an Inclusive Business Model for African Smallholder Farmers

Approaches to pro-poor livestock market development

- To further the practice and thinking of inclusive market development facilitation through a systematic process of learning and action-research between market facilitators and M&E and complexity experts, mainly through the Complexity Dialogues and the Systemic M&E Initiative.
- To produce knowledge products based on MaFI’s learning agenda and processes (e.g. online discussions, webinars and in-person meetings) that inform and build the capacity of field practitioners and are relevant and interesting to other decision-makers such as donors and lead firms.

This document summarizes a study on the impact of multi-stakeholder platforms on farmer entrepreneurs in Uganda, using Agri-ProFocus as a case study. Results found that participating farmers had greater awareness of banks and loans than non-participating farmers, but fear remained a barrier. The delivery process consisted in the deregulation of local markets and international trends, which allowed the emergence of the phenomenon "globalization". This process has resulted in the restructuring of companies that are considered in the expansion of business, the level of competitiveness, expansion in the market of operations, technological adaptations and strategies; Mergers and Acquisition (M& A) characteristics operations. However, the main objective is to have priority in information promotion policies and initiatives to improve business conditions.
The objective of this article is to address the M& A theme in the context of globalization, seeking to answer the following question: what are the results obtained in the process of restructuring and operating M& A in the telecommunications company Oi S / A between the year of its creation and by the year 2016? To all that the literature review, literature studies, literature, literature studies, non-literature literature, pages, semantic studies, about the theme, being a bibliographic and descriptive research.
The study demonstrates that not always the processes of the frequency and license are advantageous to the parties related, due to character complexes that involve such operations. These groups can be supported in their search, mainly in studies on the market of action, differences in quotations and payments, employment opportunities in the societies involved.Impact of Agri-ProFocus on Farmer's entrepreneurship, Uganda
This document summarizes a study on the impact of multi-stakeholder platforms on farmer entrepreneurs in Uganda, using Agri-ProFocus as a case study. The study examined how Agri-ProFocus's network structure and regional marketplace events influence participating farmers and organizations. Results found that participating farmers had greater awareness of banks and loans than non-participating farmers, but fear remained a barrier. The study proposes ways for Agri-ProFocus to enhance impact, such as improving knowledge transfer and assisting farmers with documentation.

1. Collective efficiency (external economies and joint actions) in clusters promotes upgrading for firms. Resource-based and software clusters showed higher collective efficiency.
2. The governance model of the value chain a firm participates in affects its ability to upgrade. Buyer-driven chains help with product/process upgrading but not functional upgrading.
3. The sector matters - clusters in natural resource, traditional manufacturing and software saw different effects of collective efficiency and value chain participation on upgrading.
