Owen Sound, also called the Scenic City, is home to a numerous amount of natural area’s
such as waterfalls, conservation area’s, and natural parks. These provide year round
entertainment for the residence of the city. For example, in the winter you can hike, ski or
snowshoe through the numerous amount of trails the city has to offer. The summer has the same
amount of opportunities if not more to offer than in the winter. For example, in the summer you
can visit a beach, discover a new waterfall, use the all-season trials and much more. The year
round activities and the environment aren’t the only thing Owen Sound has to offer.
Thier overall quality of life has been deemed second to none. This is because they have 6
hospitals that provide the full range of health care for not only residence but also visitors. This
includes everything from basic health care like prescribing medicine to complex surgery. Also
Owen Sound's has affordable housing option that fit into anyones budget.
The final reason that you should consider Owen Sound for a place to move to, is that
Owen Sound is known as the culture capital of the world. It is home to the Summerfolk Music
and Crafts Festival, and the Festival of Northern Lights. The Summerfolk Music and Crafts
Festival is a festival that attracts people from across the world, both performers and fans. Not
only does it attract performers though it also creates them. A lot of singers got their start here, for
example, The Rankins, The Arrogant Worms, and Natalie MacMaster. The Festival of Northern
Lights is a Christmas festival that runs from mid November to January every year. It attracts
20,000 people each year. The festivals consists of 25 Km of strung up lights all over the city, and
even Christmas designs made entirely from Christmas lights.
