1. My research topic
My research topic is immigration. I want to learn how the civil wars and genocide in Africa
impact immigration.
2. What I already know
I do not know very much about the immigration part of this research project. However, I do
already know something about civil wars and genocide in Africa. I know that countries have
problems with genocide and civil war. Some of these countries are Sudan, Somalia, and Rwanda.
I also know about the genocide in Sudan from reading the book Lost Boys No More.
3. What I want to learn
During this research, I would like to learn more about the genocide in Africa. I would like to
know more about which group is killing another group. Specifically, I would like to learn the
names of the groups. However, I am more interested in learning how the refugees’ immigration
to other countries has influenced their lives. Also, I would like to learn how the refugees
influenced the countries that they visited. If they returned to their home country, I would like to
learn how they helped their people and helped the situation.
4. The origins of my research
My research originated from reading Lost Boys No More. After reading the touching book about
Sudan, I wanted to learn more about people like the main character. I wanted to learn more about
the people that sought asylum in America and other countries. I was curious about how much
others were impacted by immigrations.

7) Who is fighting in the civil wars in Africa?
8) Was there any discrimination against immigrants from Africa?
9) Are the immigrants legal?
10) Are European countries expecting more immigrants in the years to come?
11) Is the journey safe?
12) Are any of the immigrants deported?
6. My research plan
My plan for researching this topic any these questions is to gather information from
trusted sources. Sources that I plan to use are school approved databases like Gale Issues in
Context and Academic Search Complete. I plan to find sources that are relevant to more topic. I
would like my research to inform people about a this problem that Africa faces. I also plan to use
Scoop.it and google docs to efficiently share my information with classmates and to gather
information better.
