Great Yarmouth Borough Council manages local services and tourism for the area. They have neighborhood offices, including MESH, that organizes community projects and listens to local ideas. MESH is a neighborhood program in Gorleston that assists locals to be more self-reliant through skills training. They work with partners to provide services and build community through supporting groups and activities. MESH hosts community events open to all to allow socializing and community improvement. Cutting Hedge was started to help a resident with an overgrown garden and provides volunteers training in gardening skills to help others and gain work skills while helping the community. East Norfolk Sixth Form College media students helped create a promotional video for MES

Londoners, work and the voluntary and community sector (VCSE)
The VCSE sector plays an important role in employability provision, delivering integrated, specialist
services that providers in other sectors will not or cannot deliver. However, reduced funding and increased demand has led to a protracted period of significant instability for the sector.
Many organisations have responded to these pressures proactively. However, there is a serious danger that the more VCSE organisations focus on revenue generation, the more they will lose the distinctive characteristics which make them effective providers. Most concerning of all is the evidence of VCSE organisations closing or scaling back services, leading to greater levels of unmet need.

Casteism
Casteism refers to favoritism towards one's own caste and ignores principles of justice, fairness and equality. It is caused by the endogamous nature of castes, desire to enhance caste prestige, and urbanization which leads castes to organize and live together. The consequences of casteism include hindering national unity, threatening democracy, encouraging nepotism and neglecting talent. Solutions to casteism include education, promoting intercaste marriage, reducing the use of caste, and promoting economic equality to reduce gaps between castes.

NHWEP Report 2015
This document provides a literature review on broadening engagement with neighbourhood watch groups. It discusses how neighbourhood watch aims to reduce crime and improve community engagement. Existing research shows neighbourhood watch membership is often driven by crime rates and fear, so external motivations need to be found to replace fear. Groups also need to be inclusive of diverse communities. The literature review explores challenges to broadening participation and different engagement methods tried, such as having marginalized groups represented and using a multi-agency approach.

The Go-Ahead SIGN
The Red Cross of Skopje receives large donations of used clothing each year that are difficult and costly to sort and distribute. To address this issue, they created a social enterprise called Kopče, a second-hand clothing shop that employs vulnerable groups. Kopče sells donated clothing and provides vouchers to Red Cross beneficiaries. When Kopče wanted to start a sewing training program, they applied to the Sustainability Academy to raise funds through increased clothing sales. Their campaign was successful, allowing them to teach sewing skills to unemployed women and raise the required funds.

AMSHeR is a coalition of 17 organizations from 15 African countries that advocate for the health and human rights of men who have sex with men (MSM) in Africa. The coalition aims to (1) strengthen national efforts to improve policy and programming for MSM health; (2) increase visibility of MSM issues in policies, laws, communities, and services; and (3) identify and advocate for more resources for MSM access to prevention, treatment, care and support services. AMSHeR uses a human rights framework and has three key programs - law and human rights, health, and movement building - to work towards empowering and healthy lives for MSM through advocacy, capacity strengthening, and regional coordination.

GBYC managesall things inGreatYarmouth fromCouncil Tax to RubbishClean upsto Parkingto Tourism (whichisimportantaswe are a seaside county) and the Community.They have three neighbourhoodofficeswhichincludesMESH witha teamwho organises andhelpsoutinthe local community,listentotheir ideasandstart communityprojects. MESH MESH isa neighbourhoodprogramme thatisrunin Gorleston.Theyassistlocals andallowthemtobe more resilientandlessreliantonservices,whichgive themcore skills. Theyworkwithavarietyof organisationsandpartnerstobringgood servicesto the community.“We buildupona sense of community by supportinggroupsandactivities.”ThislinkstoCuttingHedge asitisone of theirprojectsstarted and whatthe whole classassignmentisabout. MESH hostseventswithinthe communitytoallow anyone andeveryone tosocialiseandbetterthe area,evenssuchasyouthgroups,familydays, feminismtalks andalongwiththattheyhave ayearlymeetupwithGBYC to discusseventsandhow to betterthe community. CuttingHedge CuttingHedge wasstartedwhena residentwasissuedaneviction warningnotice due toan overrun garden and an ideawasplantedto helpthe resident,alongside withCommunityRoots,VoluntaryNorfolk and Neighbourhoods ThatWork,theycreated CuttingHedge,a voluntarygroupwhichhelpsresidentsorthe communitywith overgrowngardens (orgreenareas) whotraintheirvolunteers and provide themwithcore verbal andpractical skills suchasidentifying planta,usinggardeningtoolsandworkingwithothers.Thishelps otherto leadon to findjobsforthemselves,itgivesthemreal life applicationskillslike socialising,all the whilehelpingthe community as well. Thiswas the mainfocusfor our projectand allowedusto show they wayMESH buildconnectionswiththe communitythroughEastNorfolkSixthFormCollege. Notonly didwe helpthem,buttheyhelped ustocreate our veryowncorporate videomade myFilmand TV Students. East Norfolk SixthFormCollege Our college became involvedwithMESHand theirCuttingHedge projectbyJulie Woodsgettingintocontactwithour communityand progressionadviser, Jane Palmer.Juliehadhercontact as theyhad
- 2. previouslyworkedtogether.Inregards,of the projectitself,the mediastudentshelpedcreate the videobyfirstlytalkingtoJulie abouthow she wantedMESHto be portrayedandhow the students couldhelp portrayMESH ina positive light.We plannedoutwheretofilmandhada deadlineto complete,MESHcontinuedtocollaborate withEastNorfolkbycontinuouslyinvitingustothe showingof the completedprojectandintroducingustothe board of volunteers andMP’sinthe room.
